When you accompany, you might find a situation when the particular rhythm that you're using has too many tabla notes to be played at a very fast tempo.
(We've all been there!)

Here is an example of an 8 beat Keherva rhythm that you could consider using when that happens.

Dhet ---- dhe te
Na ghe dhe te

At the end, the composition taught in every lesson is played in a professional presentation so that you know what you're aiming for in the future.

Filming and editing underway for the next series of lessons by Tabla Works.

Tabla : An Accompaniment Course is a set of 5 Modules that takes you through a step-by-step process of how to play rhythm to vocal and instrumental music.

Each Module contains 2 lessons; the first explains how to play the rhythm, the second how to use it in a practical way to accompany.

The focus will be on using the rhythms that you learn for a specified purpose. It should also be ideal preparation for playing with other musicians and exploring tabla in a wider context.

The exciting part is that, despite the huge editing tasks, we hope to be ready to launch in October.

In the intermediate course, you can learn many important tabla rhythms for accompnaiment.

In this video, I have shown how an 8 beat rhythm that I explained how to play in lesson 8 of that course can be used to accompany a whole load of bollywood film songs.

By learning the rhythm, you can use YouTube to practise playing it with these songs which I have demonstrated.

The songs that I have shown are as follows

1 Me Tenu Samjhavaan
2 Dil Diyaan Galaan
3 Kaise Jeena Jeena

4 Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma
5 Neele Gaggan Ke Tale
6 E Mere Dil E Nadaan
7 Bachpan Ki Mohabbat
8 Yaad Keeya Dil Ne

The downloadable Beginner's Course makes learning easy by separating classical Tabla compositions such as Kaida, G*t and Tukra with light Tabla which is focused on the use of Taal (rhythmic cycles). That's done with clear examples and simple explanations so that your fundamental understanding of Tabla is clear from the start.

Here is a short rendition of Delhi Kaida with 4 Palta. The famous composition, played by all the professionals, is one which was taught in lesson 8 of the Tabla Works Beginners Course.

The bol of the Kaida are as follows:

Dha Ti Ta
Dha Ti Ta
Dha Dha Ti Ta
Dha ghe tin na ke na

Ta Ti Ta
Ta Ti Ta
Dha Dha Ti Ta
Dha ghe Dhin Na ghe na

09/04/2021

Here is another humble Kaida share that I played some time back. I played it with a few simple palta to give a flavour of the composition.

The bol of the Kaida is

Dhaghe naDha TireKita
Dhaghe naDha TireKita
Dhadha TireKita
Dhaghe naDha tirekita
Tina
Kitataka TireKita TakaTa--- Tirekita

Take NaTa TireKita
Take NaTa TireKita
Tata TireKita
Dhaghe naDha tirekita
Dhinna
KitaTaka Tirekita TakaTa--- Tirekita

24/03/2021

Here's a fun new bol on the edge of the Bayan that you can use in a simple but effective rhythm that sounds cool.

23/03/2021

The phrase Dha Tire Kita Taka Ta Tire Kita Taka will help to improve your tabla roll going forward.

Start slow and then gradually build your speed maintaining a clean sound so that even at a faster tempo, the individual notes can still be discernible.
