I am a qualified professional Blue Badge Tourist guide, based in Scotland, with extensive knowledge of this wonderful country and its history and a particular interest in ancestry. There are dozens of reasons for visiting Scotland. You might be wanting to walk in your ancestor’s footsteps. Perhaps you just want to view the beautiful and stunning scenery – its dramatic mountains, gorgeous lochs a

nd breath-taking coastline. Maybe you are interested in art, archaeology, architecture, festivals, gardens, geology, golf, history, literature, music, politics, railways, science, whisky or wildlife….. the list goes on. Whatever your interests a tourist guide can help you make the most of your time here and, indeed, enhance your experience. I have my own luxury Ford Galaxy vehicle which can comfortably seat four people on an extended tour or up to six on a day tour. It has twin sun roofs which enhance your views and all my customers love them. If you have bigger party I can hire a vehicle with up to seven passenger seats. In addition I am also available as a guide to accompany chauffeur driven tours, coach tours or walking tours. I would be delighted to take you on the journey of a lifetime in a country which I love and where I have deep roots.

This Saturday May 15 is World Whisky Day and the Scottish Tourist Guides Association is once again staging a fun whisky related quiz on our official page.
My colleagues Ronnie Berri and Alister McDermott will be tasting five different whiskies and asking you to guess which distillery produced them.
Other members are also putting together videos and posting photographs to mark this special day celebrating whisky worldwide.
There are more than 130 malt and grain whisky distilleries in Scotland making it the greatest centre of whisky production in the world.
Our guides are always delighted to take guests to visit distilleries in Scotland.
There are an increasing number of distilleries that have visitor centres where you can take a tour and find out how whisky is made and then sample the product.
According to the Scotch Whisky Association Scotch Whisky accounted for 75 per cent of Scottish food and drink exports in 2019.
The SWA says some 22 million casks lie maturing in warehouses in Scotland waiting to be discovered
In order to be called Scotch Whisky, the spirit must mature in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years.
My photograph shows the picturesque Edradour distillery in Perthshire.

If you are staying in Edinburgh or Glasgow and want to see the highlands but haven't got much time then the Trossachs region is the best option. As you can see in the photos you have impressive mountains and beautiful lochs. It is around 90 minutes drive from both cities to get into the heart of the Trossachs and once there you can walk by a loch or go on a boat trip on Loch Katrine. There are also some lovely places to eat including the Venachar Lochside restaurant featured on one of the photos.
