Dog food advice please 🙏 my little GSD dog has lost a lot of top line / muscle because she has been on restricted exercise due to generally getting older and me being not able to 🐎 out with her.
She has suddenly gone really skinny. She is up to date on wormers. Fed 2 daily on Field and Trial duck and rice kibble and some meat to help it go down. She is on U Move, Liberala and paracetamol.
She is a fussy eater and I just feel she is not getting the most out of her food and needs a much higher calorie diet that is yummy and easy to digest and doesn’t need to be fed in huge volumes as she simply won’t eat it. Any pointers will be so gratefully appreciated
Another project for our 🐶 and human guests enjoyment 😅❤️ - “Central Bark” which is our 2 acre Secure dog 🐶 exercise field has been re-fenced with 🦌 6ft specialist fencing so that whilst our K9 guests are safely contained their hooman chauffeurs can enjoy uninterrupted coastal and countryside views all year round 😀😀oh ps the last photo might have sneaked in which is our RPD showing one element of “Mini Barks” new agility area with jaw dropping views.
Please come and stay we would love to show you what we have been up to 😀😀❤️
💥🥁INTRODUCING our latest project = the 6ft fenced secure woodland “Scent” Zone. 💥Do you have a scent or sight hound or perhaps a woofer who loves to play in the 🪵woods but you are a bit worried about their recall?
Well worry not with our newly fenced 1.5 acre woodland playground your doggos can sniff and explore and enjoy all things doggie including an agility course whilst safely confined behind 6ft deer fences.
The lovely 🐶 in these pictures are of a rescue person from Greece who is a scent hound and he test drove all the fencing and was jolly cross as he could not escape but after that he has a wonderful time scenting out all the yummy woodland smells and loving his off lead woodland adventure 🐶❤️
God bless the NHS & in particular all of the amazing team in the A&E department at Musgrove, whom I un-scheduled rather urgent visit there yesterday and my heart felt thanks goes out to all involved.
As many of you know 2 weeks ago I had a altercation with my rather large horse - he reared up and then came down and hit me very hard on the head with his head. As opposed to doing the sensible thing and having said head injury checked out soon after, I carried on. Well tried to over the next 10 days I felt so grotty I slept for 23 hours a day. Slowly I began to feel better and could do a bit more. By Saturday I was feeling much better so decided to go for a ride - not a good plan. Hat on head plus large horse moving underneath. By Monday felt really ill, so called 111 who said they were sending an ambulance. I said no as Simon could drive me...
He dropped me off at the A&E department while he went to park the car. I remember speaking with a very nice receptionist and the next thing I knew was waking up apparently some 15 minutes later in a cubical with lots of people prodding me.
I do remember a lovely nurse from Nigeria asking me for my date of birth but for the life of me I could not remember it.
According to Simon I went out light again so the emergency button had been pressed, the crash team came, they got me semi round (which I have no recollection of) and I was apparently then whizzed off for a CT scan. Having had a lovely, if not scheduled nap I woke up, once back in the cubical where I felt lots better and Simon said I actually had some colour in my cheeks not the paste grey that had been going on for the previous hour of so.
Then the happy news came in the form of a very handsome Consultant who said no broken head or neck, but a really good swelling on side of head and big dose of fairly major concussion - so I guess the moral of the story is don't try to see who has the strongest head between yourself and your horse!
My sincerest thanks again go to all who work within the NHS, who despite the most difficult circumstances are are truly amazing - God Bless you #########xx
P.S. I am still going to kill Simon for taking this picture of me - he said it was revenge for 8 years ago
pps, I am mean to to be taking it easy and limiting screen time. Taking it easy is actually the easy part as I just keep having to sleep- its the not having much screen time is much more hard as I have so much to post and do for socials and website as so many really good things have been going on here over the last bit - but tomorrow is another day. Oh guess what I am off to sleep -again....
Our first 🐶 guests test driving mini barks new agility course 😍 They gave it a big 🐾 up 😀 with its 6ft high fence and doggo paddling pool it is the perfect playground for all discerning woofers looking for that perfect cottage and ancillary facilities at which to holiday at.

💥💥 Pop Quiz 🤡 #1 What is the connection between these pictures? # 2 What are we up now? #3 where?
Black eye 👁️ me one Versus 🐴 Murphy in who had the strongest head as you can see I was not the winner of this round 😰 Murph took exception to me trying to put the worlds most expensive equine asthma puffer up his nose. So he is just going to have to keep wheezing as am not sure either me or the puffer are up for round 2 😅
Sunday lunch at the fab Luturall Arms in Dunster followed by a leisurely walk through the medieval village and back through the Dunster Castle park - the perfect Sunday 😀
When you put your heart and soul into trying to make guests holidays as wonderful as possible and to then read lovely reviews like these that were written this morning it really does make it special xx
Oh love this 😅😅😂
🤣
Our three cottages which are tucked away on our private country estate on the Quantok Hills in Somerset are place where Home from home comforts for both dogs and humans meet luxury and nature.
I love this and to think our 2 GSDs used to do this for a living. Now they live for OUR beds and sofas 😅
Being such a hot day the 🐶🐶 and I walked down to the oh so pretty Holford Combe. The girls loved it as lots of cooling off in the river that runs through the Valley. I loved it as it is one of Englands true hidden gems of a place to walk 🚶♀️
Shh 🤫 don’t tell anyone as I’m working undercover. Mum and dad thinks I’m retired 👮 police 🐶 but actually I’m a 007 liscenced to kill - well balls anyway and and anything else that might like to misbehave in this water trough 😂😂😱
❤️ look how beautiful these trees are in the Quantock Hides garden. The 2nd and 3rd pics is the view from the new Rascals Bar and what a spot it is. The last pic are of the new 🧘 yoga platform/ bug hotel. Bugs 🐛 under yoga over- very zen and very green and the perfect way to up cycle the stump of a beautiful tree that was taken down by storm Kiren 😡😡
😱😱 Maintenance department caught sitting down and not being busy doing maintenance stuff but it’s ok it is after “wine o’clock” 😀😀
Well it may have been raining ☔️ again but 🐶🐶🐶 need to be 🚶 and it’s so worth it when you see these spectacular trees 🌲 and their amazing lime green early leaves 🍁
Last week saw the “official” opening of the Quantock Hide’s Rascals Bar. This important ceremony was carried out by Mrs Whitehouse Muir accompanied by the Lady Lilly and their chauffeur Mr Muir 😂😂
Inside there is seating for 2, the all important classic cocktail menus, outdoor duvets to keep the chill at bay in an evening and obviously no bar would be complete without a bar bell 🔔 oh and not to mention epic coastal and countryside views.
Outside is more bar seating a fire 🔥 pit and a hanging egg chair to relax in. So all you need to do is book your stay and remember to pack your favourite cocktails 🍹 😀😀
🧚 Pixie Glade 🧚 which is our woodland picnic 🧺 spot looking lovely in the sun this morning. I love this time of year when the leaves begin to come out and when they have that beautiful bright greens. The sea views are wonderful from this spot and listening to the birds 🦅 singing 🎵 is well heaven
This is just heaven. I love it when doggo guests email us about their holiday adventures and the lovely Mr Bingley and his equally lovely hoomans are in residence as I type now!! " Dear Emma and Simon,
Mr Bingley (Airedale age 8) has asked me to pass on a message to you, as his paws are just too big to deal with these pesky touch screen keyboards.
He sends his thanks for yet another tremendous week's holiday spent at Coleridge.
He asked that the photos below be attached.
This is his fourth stay and he is hugely grateful that his canine needs have been fully recognised and provided for yet again.
Being a year older he has enjoyed spending more time on the covered sofa than on previous visits, and he was also overwhelmed with joy to run freely in Central Bark once more, and with it being a mere bones throw from his private garden.
He barks that, knowing full well that the garden and Central Bark are deer fenced and gated secure areas, fills his heart with glee as he knows that no temptation to escape will be successful.
He also mentioned that witnessing his, late, little Lakeland terrier sister doing a full investigation of the fence line and gates, as only she could, last year, further settled his mind and he has therefore gaily galloped freely in the generous space of Central Bark.
It is great that we humans and Mr Bingley are all in agreement that this is our favourite holiday destination.
Best wishes and thanks again from Mr Bingley ..... and Jennie and I.
Just the perfect spring Sunday. Sun ☀️ walks with the 🐶🐶 and lunch at the best cavery pub in the world.!the Babbling Brook at Shurton 🍷😍

This tickles us as we have ex police 👮 dogs 😀😀
Ever been to a Police Kennel?
I think this is another first for us at the Quantock Cottages. Meet Millie who is a 14 month old deer 🦌 hound and her dad. Millie is I think the first Deer Hound we have had staying with us 🥰 You can get some ideas as to Millie’s size when you see her in conjunction with my GSD 😁😁 she is a beauty and has just the most gorgeous personality oh and her hoomans are super lovely as well 😆😆
😍🥰 when you get wonderful reviews like this week on week it really does make all worthwhile. The guests who were kind enough to write this were first timers to our cottages and they booked their autum trip the morning after they arrived 😀😀
we are so lucky we get to meet so many lovely people both 2 & 4 footed. Today we welcomed “home” 2 sets of returning guests and Greenway is all ready to welcome new guests to this lovely area and I am longing to meet them and their woofer who is an Irish wolf 🐺hound.
Slightly random post but it made me giggle. This is my brother James and his teddy bear 🧸 why you ask is he wearing said bear? Well the answer is each year in May at our family home Pencarrow which is open to the public they have a teddy bear picnic day. And obviously James’s bear wanted to take part in the picnic otherwise he would’ve felt very left out 😂😂
Mikey’s turn to go to the Drs. He has a bad cough so here they are doing a track wash. Under sedation A camera and tube thing are inserted up his nose and down his airway. Then a bit of water is pumped in and then sucked back bringing with it yucky stuff. That is then cultured to see if anything grows and if yes then we know which antibiotic to use or are more steroids needed. Poor boy 🥲
Wishing everyone a very happy Easter love from Emma & Simon and the 🐶🐶 and the horses 🐎 xx
