We’d just like to warn businesses about a scam currently underway by phone.
You will get a call from a London number purporting to be from Eon Electricity when the advisor will inform you that your tariffs are about to treble, but you have the chance to break the contract if you want to, because the government has decided it’s not fair.
He will have your account numbers and your meter number to hand ( maybe not the real ones ) but will be exceptionally well informed about your business address, email, phone number & contact name.
When you object to the increase ( why wouldn’t you? ) he will offer to pass your number to “Business Energy Direct” who are apparently experts who will save you money. If you agree they will ring you on a mobile number very soon afterwards. The screenshot below is the one who rang me.
Best advice is just hang up and block the number. If it really is your energy supplier they will send you an email. This is phishing so don’t fall for it. It is very plausible indeed.

There is loads to Discover in Kendal for visitors and locals alike. Now that we are seeing more visitors again, Kendal BID's new DSCVR app for our town will encourage them to stay longer and explore what we have to offer. Kendal is seeing new shops and businesses opening on the high street so locals can keep abreast of new arrivals too and see their special offers on the app.
Its free and takes only a few clicks to download from the App Store or for Android.
You can also use the DSCVR app to explore other towns and cities when you go on holiday. Its very easy to use and works really well.

The competition opened for entries this morning and closes on the 4th of February so you'll need to get your apron on.

The Government has announced the detail for the new wave of business grants and the new scheme is to be administered by local authorities again.
SLDC did an excellent job throughout 2020 and 2021 with the various grants so we are looking forward to a simple process which will provide real financial help without delay.
Keep an eye on the SLDC pages for details and links to apply for assistance.
