WHAT A ROARING SUCCESS
Hi all, James from the Kirkby Milers here.
It's with a heavy heart that we have to announce that the Safari 10 miler race will for now be discontinued. After being absent for a few years now due to covid, the venue unfortunately doesnt have the capacity to help host the event. We will be contacting by email everyone to organise your refunds.
We started the idea of a race and one of the main dreams was Knowsley Hall/Safari Park. The estate was amazing in accomodating our running clubs first ever race. We wanted to make sure we stood out and give runners value for money along with a race they loved.
A learning curve from day one, setting up for hours in torrential rain was a pleasure knowing runners would get a great course and day out. Designing medals that wasnt cost effective but looked amazing like our Jumanji theme.
The race helped our Kirkby Milers atheltics club financially survive and our members repaid that by being the best marshals you've ever seen. Honestly the feedback was always boss about them.
The race took us to London for a awards evening which we took home a podium place and a smashing hangover. We went from 500 runners to 1500 runners in a few years and even filling the carpark 🙈 the biggest 10 miler in the northwest was a great title. We could of sold 3000 places if the park allowed us.
Our Monkey Mile was always great seeing so many youngsters enjoy a great run which included a hill dreaded by the adults. We'll be back to make sure we keep kids of all abilities active and smiling.
Big thanks to the Knowsley Hall estate for having us. Thanks to everyone who come run in a race with a diffence.
Finally thanks to our team who spent their time making sure the race went off safely. 5am meets at Mcdonalds and endless time cleaning sheep s**t off your clothes.
Throw your best Safari photo in the comments.
WE'LL BE BACK.
