Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November 💥💣 This weekend I have been playing Robert Catesby, the ringleader of the Gunpowder Plot! It was a new event for us at Harvington Hall and one that I think will be popular for years to come. The volunteers of Harvington really bring it to life!

I make a small appearance on this Gunpowder Plot documentary, alongside the amazing Tracy Borman this Wednesday on channel 5 💥 This is my first time ever speaking on a history documentary 😃 I might also appear as a hooded gunpowder plotter! It is great to see Harvington Hall being used for some of the reconstruction as well 👊

Today I was filming with the amazing Tracy Borman 😊 It was a real pinch me moment and a privilege to have been asked to appear on camera! Tracy is currently filming a 2 part documentary for Channel 5 😊 The documentary will be airing at the end of October/early November 💥

Last night I had the pleasure of working at Hardwick Hall with Jay, from The Tudor Songbook 🎶 This was part of Shine A Light, which you have to agree the house looks pretty incredible all lit up 😲😍

Today was shockingly my first ever visit to Gloucester Cathedral 😍 I have always wanted to visit and always lived within an hour of it! The cloisters are famous for Harry Potter and pretty much any Tudor film 😊 They also have the tomb of Edward II 👑

Today I was portraying Henry VIII at Layer Marney Tower, alongside the incredible John White as Sir Henry Marney. Never I have I been so nervous in costume. Nobody can compare to John as Henry, but today was an absolute pleasure 👑😃

Today I was meant to be going to Haddon Hall, but due to a gas leak right outside of the Hall, we went to another favourite, Little Moreton Hall in Cheshire 😃 I never tire of seeing this Tudor beauty. I am used to a wonky Tudor house but this is something else 😅

It marks the 500 anniversary of Henry's visit 👑 The man himself has asked me to be young Henry for the proceedings 😃 When your king calls upon you, you don't say no! ⚔️

Here I am in a brand new costume made by the fabulous Tudor Dreams Historical Costumier 😊 This is a replica of the Henry portrait c1520.
Henry would have been very similar to my age when the portrait was painted 🎨 This costume is for my non musical role with The Tudor Songbook

Remember, Remember, the 5th of November 💥💣 For me the Gunpowder plot is the most fascinating event in history. Although not during the Tudor period, the persecution of Catholics during the late Elizabethan era caused frustration for Catesby and the other plotters. When it became clear that James I wouldn't be as tolerant as they first thought, the plotters set about taking action into their own hands.

Hi my name is Phil, I am a costumed Tour Guide/Re-enactor at the historic Harvington Hall in Worcestershire! (Harvington Hall is the best kept secret in England!!)

Tudor history has been my passion since the age 7, my aim is to inspire children and adults and make them realise history is cool, its not just about middle class toffs in anoraks!

History is accessible for everyone and doesn’t have to be boring! The Tudor Tours will be a series of videos and vlogs dedicated to this fascinating period of British history.

The topics covered will not just be about the Kings and Queens but everyday life, what it is like to be a servant, cooking, medicines, weapons and much more!!
