Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November ๐ฅ๐ฃ This weekend I have been playing Robert Catesby, the ringleader of the Gunpowder Plot! It was a new event for us at Harvington Hall and one that I think will be popular for years to come. The volunteers of Harvington really bring it to life!
I make a small appearance on this Gunpowder Plot documentary, alongside the amazing Tracy Borman this Wednesday on channel 5 ๐ฅ This is my first time ever speaking on a history documentary ๐ I might also appear as a hooded gunpowder plotter! It is great to see Harvington Hall being used for some of the reconstruction as well ๐
Today I was filming with the amazing Tracy Borman ๐ It was a real pinch me moment and a privilege to have been asked to appear on camera! Tracy is currently filming a 2 part documentary for Channel 5 ๐ The documentary will be airing at the end of October/early November ๐ฅ

Last night I had the pleasure of working at Hardwick Hall with Jay, from The Tudor Songbook ๐ถ This was part of Shine A Light, which you have to agree the house looks pretty incredible all lit up ๐ฒ๐
Today was shockingly my first ever visit to Gloucester Cathedral ๐ I have always wanted to visit and always lived within an hour of it! The cloisters are famous for Harry Potter and pretty much any Tudor film ๐ They also have the tomb of Edward II ๐
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas ๐๐ A couple of weeks ago we were at a very festive and snowy Hever Castle ๐
Last night I was at NT Speke Hall alongside The Tudor Songbook for an evening of Tudor Christmas music ๐ถ Always good fun to portray Henry VIII ๐ I look forward to joining Jay at Hever Castle on Tuesday as his Majesty.

Today I was portraying Henry VIII at Layer Marney Tower, alongside the incredible John White as Sir Henry Marney. Never I have I been so nervous in costume. Nobody can compare to John as Henry, but today was an absolute pleasure ๐๐
Today I was meant to be going to Haddon Hall, but due to a gas leak right outside of the Hall, we went to another favourite, Little Moreton Hall in Cheshire ๐ I never tire of seeing this Tudor beauty. I am used to a wonky Tudor house but this is something else ๐
Had such a lovely day yesterday with British History Tours ๐ I got to meet the lovely Tracy Borman and show her some of Harvington's secrets ๐คซ Also a huge pleasure to meet Gareth Russell - Historian/Author what a nice guy ๐
I feel very honoured to be working alongside the best of the best, King Henry, the Eighth of That Name next month at Layer Marney in Essex. It marks the 500 anniversary of Henry's visit ๐ The man himself has asked me to be young Henry for the proceedings ๐ When your king calls upon you, you don't say no! โ๏ธ

Remember, Remember, the 5th of November ๐ฅ๐ฃ For me the Gunpowder plot is the most fascinating event in history. Although not during the Tudor period, the persecution of Catholics during the late Elizabethan era caused frustration for Catesby and the other plotters. When it became clear that James I wouldn't be as tolerant as they first thought, the plotters set about taking action into their own hands.
