Things you should know before visiting Machu Picchu:

✅ Book your tickets early enough:
In the high season from May – October, we recommend booking your tickets at least 2-3 months in advance if possible.

✅ The fastest way to get there is by train: Peru rail and Inca rail offer different train options

✅Take comfortable shoes

✅ Use the toilets before entering Machu Picchu: Once you go in, you cannot come out and re-enter.

✅ You can’t buy entrance tickets when you arrive at Machu Picchu. You can book them online or through a tour agency.

✅ Take water and snacks

✅ If you are lucky, you can get pictures with llamas for free.

✅ You can go in with or without a tour guide

Visiting Machu Picchu is on almost everyone’s to-do list when coming to Peru (and so it should be!)

If you are planning your visit by yourself, getting there involves some trickier-than-usual logistics.

There are several ways to get to the site, including hiking the Inca Trail and getting the train. To choose the right way for you, you will need to take into consideration how long you have, your fitness level, and finances.

This is the classic, ‘quick’ way to get there from Lima:

1️⃣ Lima - Cusco flight (1 hr 20 min)
2️⃣ Cusco - Ollantaytambo train station car ride (Approx. 1 hr 40 min) - you can choose to travel with Peru Rail or Inca Rail from here.
3️⃣ Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes train ride (1 hr 30 min)
4️⃣ Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu bus ride (30 min)
You can choose to go back to Cusco on the same day or stay the night in Aguas Calientes and return the day after.
As Machu Picchu is the most popular attraction in the country, it’s best to book your tour as far in advance as possible.
If you would rather avoid the hassle of having to plan every step, we can do it for you, so you can just enjoy yourself! Send us a message to book your Machu Picchu tour at: [email protected]

There’s no shortage of things to do and see in Lima.
A part from it’s awe-inspiring historical attractions, Lima is also renowned as South America’s culinary capital, boasting world-class eateries and authentic local gems that offer a heady mix of flavours. Additionally, it is a place for excellent shopping and entertainment venues.
It’s definitely a city you shouldn’t miss!

Things you should know before visiting Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain:

✅ Altitude: Located at an altitude of over 16,000 feet (5,000 meters) above sea level. This means that altitude sickness can be a real concern for visitors, especially those who are not used to high altitudes. It is recommended to spend a few days in Cusco or another nearby town before attempting to visit the Rainbow Mountain in order to acclimatise to the altitude.

✅ Weather: The weather can be unpredictable, with sudden changes in temperature and weather conditions. It’s important to bring warm clothing and waterproof gear in case of rain or snow.

✅ Hiking: The hike to Rainbow Mountain is challenging and takes around 3-4 hours round trip. It’s important to be in good physical condition and bring appropriate gear, such as comfortable hiking shoes and a backpack with snacks, water, and sunscreen.

✅ Tour guides: It is recommended to hire a tour guide to visit Rainbow Mountain. Not only will they provide information about the history and culture of the area, but they will also ensure your safety during the hike.

Overall, visiting Rainbow Mountain can be a truly awe-inspiring experience, but it’s important to be prepared!

02/03/2023

The Inca Trail is one of the most popular tourist attractions in South America.

The trail itself is a 43-kilometer (26.7-mile) trek through rugged mountain terrain, with stunning views of the Andes and several well-preserved Inca ruins along the way.

The trail begins at the town of Pisacucho, also known as Kilometer 82, and winds through the Sacred Valley of the Incas before reaching the high-altitude pass of Warmiwañusca (also known as Dead Woman's Pass), which sits at an elevation of 4,215 meters (13,828 feet).
From there, the trail descends into lush cloud forests and passes through several Inca ruins, including Wiñay Wayna and Intipata, before reaching Machu Picchu.

The Inca Trail is a popular destination for hikers from around the world, but access to the trail is limited to 500 people per day, including guides and porters. Visitors must obtain a permit in advance to hike the trail, and the trail is closed annually in February for maintenance.

While the Inca Trail is a challenging hike, it is also a rewarding experience that offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the Inca civilization.

The Inca trail is open to visitors now!

We are so excited that Machu Picchu is open again 🥳

Here are some interesting facts about the Inca site:

✅ It was built in the 15th century, but was abandoned just over 100 years later during the Spanish conquest.

✅ The exact purpose of Machu Picchu is still a mystery, but it is believed to have been a royal estate or religious site for the Incan emperor Pachacuti.

✅ Machu Picchu is sometimes referred to as the "Lost City of the Incas" because it was hidden from the outside world until it was rediscovered in 1911 by American historian Hiram Bingham.

✅ Machu Picchu is located at an altitude of 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level, making it one of the highest ancient cities in the world.

✅ It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983 and was also named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007.

✅ It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America.

✅ It is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the world and continues to be studied by experts in order to better understand Incan culture and history.
