Ghost touring is a TOUGH gig, but even tougher when the rain decides to get involved.

Dante had a wonderful bunch of spookers this evening and the torrential didn’t slow down a single one of them!

Volume Two of The Deathly Dark Tales was fully funded!!

Due to the popularity of the campaign, Indiegogo have placed it “In Demand” which means that you can still grab yourself a copy and all those spooky perks, and we’ll leave it open until we finalise the print in the new year.

Thank you so much to everyone who snagged a copy, and we’ll do it all one last time in a couple of years for the 3rd and final volume.

EDIT - I’ve moved the goalposts. If we get 200 backers (that’s 35 more) I’ll add the mini guide!

The last day to preorder volume two of The Deathly Dark Tales has arrived!

Stretch goals unlocked include the Hector postcards, a new spooky pin badge and if we reach 200 backers we’ll include a small pocket guide to York ghosts.

If you don’t have a copy of volume one, fear not! You can snag both volumes in glorious hardback.

Lovely photo of Stonegate by Lars Karlsson.

Shame to see the usual complaints that “York is too busy” and “tourists have ruined it.”

I (Dorian) grew up in Scarborough and saw tourism fall off and it took so much with it. People visiting York spend money. They book hotels, eat food, visit attractions and join ghost walks!

Independent businesses thrive, coffee shops are packed, restaurants and hotels are booked up. They put money into the city. Local people have work! How is that a bad thing?

So come on in! York is open and there’s mulled booze EVERYWHERE!!

We’ve had some odd emails and reviews recently, so I’ve decided to share with you a selection of the things people have complained about / blamed us for / sent us “feedback” about. Strap in!

- It was too cold
- It was too hot
- The tour wasn’t historical enough
- The was too much history
- My children were scared
- It wasn’t scary
- It rained, we weren’t prepared for this
- Tour left without us, we were only 15 minutes late
- There were bin bags on the streets
- Other tours were near ours
- Someone brought a pushchair
- There was someone on crutches and it slowed the tour
- We went to the wrong start point, YOUR FAULT
- We didn’t find a tiny ghost
- We didn’t turn up, give us a refund
- It was too short
- It was too long
- The tour guide was grumpy
- Too theatrical (it’s theatrical storytelling show)
- No jumps scares
- Jump scares
- We needed a wee, you should have toilets
- Too many cobbles
- Didn’t visit anywhere of interest. Just the Minster, Shambles, Clifford’s Tower

- Too much walking

This could be a much longer list, but someone just complained that this list is already too long.

Halfway through the preorder window for The Deathly Dark Tales Volume Two, and it’s slowly creeping up.

Facebook doesn’t show our posts to as many folk as it used to, so hopefully this is popping up into the eyes of the people it needs to!

The second volume spooky, weird stories from the mind of Spookologist Dorian Deathly | Check out 'The Deathly Dark Tales Volume Two' on Indiegogo.

Photographic evidence of our presence at Ghosts After Dark!

We’ve tucked ourselves in the shadows of the cemetery so photo ops are rare, but here’s Dorian with the legendary Bell Man of York. His ghost haunts the abbey but only during special events.

Who IS Dorian Deathly?

Hello, browser of the internet.

My name is Dorian Deathly, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. You must be here because you're the curious type, looking to uncover some of the darker and more unpleasant things that lurk within the two thousand years of York's murkier moments.

We'll get along just fine.

Consider me your tour guide, story teller, fellow adventurer in time. Together we will talk of murders, executions, plagues and pestilence, and perhaps the odd things that go bump in the night.
