Over 20,000 performers decked out in vibrant, sequinned costumes will march to the beat of drums and the blare of trumpets, keeping alive the rich legacy of the Kaapse Klopse. This decades-old tradition honours the Cape Coloured community's ancestors, who, as enslaved people, were given only one day of freedom—the day after New Year’s.
