The Association
The UK Byte Association committee is elected annually to organise the Travellers’ Series and the various class championships throughout the United Kingdom. It is also the official link with the Royal Yachting Association and the International Sailing Federation on all matters affecting the racing of the Byte and its status as an Internationally Recognised Class in the UK and via t
he International Byte Class Association based in Canada, worldwide. The Committee also speaks for Byte owners matters affecting the copyright and construction of the boat. You may not realise it but there is more than one company that builds the Byte throughout the world and others who make the one-design sail. As with all manufactured articles things can go wrong from time to time and the Association is there to help resolve problems. It is important, therefore, that all owners whether they race or not, support their Association to get the maximum enjoyment out of their investment in a one-design class and by maintaining that one-design criteria protect their financial pocket. The Association can also ease the financial burden of boat ownership by negotiating, on your behalf, sponsorship of your racing events and more importantly an advantageously priced insurance package to protect you, your boat and its equipment. The current individual membership fee is £20 per annum or £17 if you arrange a standing order.
