This elderly woman lives on Samosir Island, Sumatra. She sits outside her traditional Batak house, preparing food for her family. Many elders in this region have a nasty mouth condition causing allot of pain, so they chew on sour berries to numb the pain. A very insightful few days..

Cambo 'Rambo'. A man of many talents ex music teacher, departed from the tropics of Scotland 3 years ago in search of adventure. His travels took him to the depths to New Zealand, where he worked at Hobbiton, meeting the entire cast of The Lord Of The Rings along the way. His most outstanding adventure was living and working on a deserted island north of Whitsundays, Queensland, Australia. Him an a partner spend 111 days on the island, fishing, hunting, surfing, sailing, kayaking. That my friend is the life. Your stories are incredible, keep up the good work.

This is Mowgli, a 26 year old with the biggest heart and biggest smile. Although growing up through some hard times he would still have the loudest laugh out in the surf. Constantly coming out with one line phrases that had us laughing. Every time he said goodbye he'd say "see you around like a donut" and if you questioned doing something he'd give the response of "Why not coconut?" Or " no worries chicken curry" Mowgli was one of the many locals on Gili Trawangan that made us feel extremely welcome.

Kelvin, half Japanese half Balinese, I spoke to him shortly on a speed boat from the Gili islands to Bali and seemed baffled when I asked if I could take his photograph. Great, interesting face. "I searched for love for a long time, 30 years in fact. So I put that on hold, travelling and Buddhism is where I have found my happiness"

Fermand. Man of free spirit and love. Opens his shack/house for people of the island to chill out. Very basic building, featuring many instruments and importantly a beer fridge. He lent us his surfboards a couple days in a row. Kind man. "Live everyday as if it is your last"

DUSAMO. A happy and well spirited guy. Living in a jungle commune village in the Doi Inthanon National Park region of northern Thailand. A man with a basic education. He spent his time following western trekkers through the province learning English. I spent the evening with him teaching him Geography and British Phrases. I asked him. "Did you ever want to go to college?" He replied "no, the jungle is my home, my family, my life" great guy.

Omam. A great smiley character who has taken us around the gili islands on a couple of occasions. We went on a long voyage for turtles on Christmas day, and has taken us spear fishing. Which turned out to be a great success. Great guy.

Obu. Laundry man at a home stay on gili trawanagan island, Indonesia. Taught him some English and improved his knowledge very quickly. He was a keen learner, with a book full of English vocabulary. "I want to see the world, but I have no money to leave the island" meeting people like this makes me appreciate how lucky we are to be British and brought up into some money and good education.
