Music and ME provide fun, creative and educational music classes for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. Located around London and Surrey, our fun packed music sessions help enhance young children’s cognitive, language, physical, creative, and social-emotional development. At Music and Me we understand the importance of music in the early stages of life and so we’ve structured our music sessio

ns to allow children to adopt a life long love and appreciation for music and it’s therapeutical benefits. Through the use of melody, rhythm and rhyme, our activities will also equip children with the tools to develop vocal, aural and movement based skills. We also have our own tailor made album of songs which are great for motivating your little ones to achieve every day but difficult tasks! Our sessions offer a monthly theme which incorporates weekly learning objects using many different visual and physical aids to stimulate social development. This term, our students explored the planets—their names, order, and some seriously tricky words! 🚀 Using music to guide the way, we focused on building language skills by practicing pronunciation and boosting vocabulary.

To all my lovely customers. I need your help ❤️

I’m excited to share that on Friday, 25 April 2025, I’ll be taking part in the Abseil St Helier event, descending down the front of St Helier Hospital to raise funds for the Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity. I would be so grateful for your support, no matter the size of your contribution.

The funds raised will go directly toward providing extra support to our hospitals, beyond what the NHS can deliver alone. This includes funding state-of-the-art equipment, refurbishing hospital and community service facilities, and organizing health and wellbeing initiatives for staff.

As some of you know, my daughter was born very prematurely and faced serious health challenges. She spent eight weeks in the intensive care unit at St Helier Hospital, where the incredible NICU staff provided her—and us—with the utmost care and compassion.

There are no words that can truly express my gratitude to the staff, doctors, and everyone involved in our care. This fundraising effort is just a small way my partner and I hope to give back, to help other families receive the same life-saving support we did. Seeing the strain on the NHS is heartbreaking, and I hope you’ll consider contributing to this cause. We never know when we, or someone we love, might need this vital support.

Building Confidence 🎵🪗🥁

In our mini music classes and nursery sessions, we encourage children to lead our “copy me” song every week—a simple activity with a profound impact. While it might seem like a fun musical moment, this practice is carefully designed to help children develop vital life skills.

By inviting children to stand in front of their peers and lead a song, we create a space where they can gradually overcome shyness, build self-assurance, and experience what it feels like to be heard and supported. For young children, the traditional approach to reading music can feel abstract and challenging, but adding color coding makes it more accessible and easier to grasp.

The visual link between the colored notes on their music sheets and the matching stickers on the keys provides a clear, immediate reference, which helps reinforce note recognition, muscle memory, and understanding of key placement. This approach builds confidence and minimizes frustration, allowing kids to learn the piano in a playful, stimulating way while laying a solid foundation for further musical growth.

By associating each note with a specific color, children are also more likely to remember and connect with what they’re learning, making their practice sessions feel like a fun game rather than a chore.

MUSIC AND LIGHTS COMBINED 🎶 💡

The power of lights with children in musical settings is profound and transformative. Lighting can captivate children’s attention, create immersive atmospheres, and stimulate their senses, making learning and play more engaging and magical.

At Music and ME, we Incorporate lights to help reinforce musical cues, rhythms, and moods—whether it’s using twinkling fairy lights for a calming lullaby, bright and colorful LED lights for high-energy activities, or spotlight effects to highlight moments of focus. Lights also helps us encourage sensory exploration, creativity, and imagination, helping children associate music with visual wonder.

For children with additional needs, lighting can provide a tactile and visual cue, helping with transitions, grounding them in the present activity, and enhancing their sensory experiences. In essence, lights combined with music create a multisensory journey that makes learning more memorable and meaningful.

Also a beautiful sight for us adults to enjoy too! ❤️

Before every activity, all our music makers have to sit and wait until our session leader says Go! Not only does this create a positive attitude towards discipline and instruction taking but it also enables children to take the time to consider the next activity, observe the toys to play with and prepare themselves to play with others.

⭐️ This is Noah, Aged 4 ⭐️ In an Early Years Piano Lesson, our way to encourage participation on an instrument is by performing with the students using one of their favourite songs. As you can see, Noah really enjoyed being creative playing his piano, dancing and singing along. This type of fun, confident musical interaction, creates a fond and trusting relationship with music allowing children to want to repeat their experience. ⭐️Top Tip ⭐️ Between the ages of 2-5, feel confident in the benefits of small bursts of practice. Don’t worry about how long your child plays for at home and try to avoid forcing practice to the point that the child feels discouraged or resentment. Even one minute or two of improvised play is an excellent sign of engagement and musical potential.
