🌍✨ Learning About the Planets Through Music!✨🌍

This term, our students explored the planets—their names, order, and some seriously tricky words! 🚀 Using music to guide the way, we focused on building language skills by practicing pronunciation and boosting vocabulary.

From Mercury to Neptune, every child did an amazing job mastering big concepts and big words. What a fun and fantastic way to learn! 🌟

To all my lovely customers. I need your help ❤️

I’m excited to share that on Friday, 25 April 2025, I’ll be taking part in the Abseil St Helier event, descending down the front of St Helier Hospital to raise funds for the Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity. I would be so grateful for your support, no matter the size of your contribution.

The funds raised will go directly toward providing extra support to our hospitals, beyond what the NHS can deliver alone. This includes funding state-of-the-art equipment, refurbishing hospital and community service facilities, and organizing health and wellbeing initiatives for staff.

As some of you know, my daughter was born very prematurely and faced serious health challenges. She spent eight weeks in the intensive care unit at St Helier Hospital, where the incredible NICU staff provided her—and us—with the utmost care and compassion.

There are no words that can truly express my gratitude to the staff, doctors, and everyone involved in our care. This fundraising effort is just a small way my partner and I hope to give back, to help other families receive the same life-saving support we did. Seeing the strain on the NHS is heartbreaking, and I hope you’ll consider contributing to this cause. We never know when we, or someone we love, might need this vital support.

Building Confidence 🎵🪗🥁

In our mini music classes and nursery sessions, we encourage children to lead our “copy me” song every week—a simple activity with a profound impact. While it might seem like a fun musical moment, this practice is carefully designed to help children develop vital life skills.

By inviting children to stand in front of their peers and lead a song, we create a space where they can gradually overcome shyness, build self-assurance, and experience what it feels like to be heard and supported. Leading their friends teaches them to trust their voice and embrace the courage to express themselves, even when all eyes are on them.

Consistency and repetition play a key role here. Repeatedly engaging with the same activity builds familiarity and confidence, transforming what once may have felt daunting into something exciting and empowering. Over time, children gain the poise to lead without fear—an invaluable skill they can carry into many areas of their lives.

At its heart, this activity is more than just a song; it is a celebration of growth, courage, and the joy of learning together. Through music, we help nurture confident, brave children who know their voices matter.

For young children, the traditional approach to reading music can feel abstract and challenging, but adding color coding makes it more accessible and easier to grasp.

The visual link between the colored notes on their music sheets and the matching stickers on the keys provides a clear, immediate reference, which helps reinforce note recognition, muscle memory, and understanding of key placement. This approach builds confidence and minimizes frustration, allowing kids to learn the piano in a playful, stimulating way while laying a solid foundation for further musical growth.

By associating each note with a specific color, children are also more likely to remember and connect with what they’re learning, making their practice sessions feel like a fun game rather than a chore.

MUSIC AND LIGHTS COMBINED 🎶 💡

The power of lights with children in musical settings is profound and transformative. Lighting can captivate children’s attention, create immersive atmospheres, and stimulate their senses, making learning and play more engaging and magical.

At Music and ME, we Incorporate lights to help reinforce musical cues, rhythms, and moods—whether it’s using twinkling fairy lights for a calming lullaby, bright and colorful LED lights for high-energy activities, or spotlight effects to highlight moments of focus. Lights also helps us encourage sensory exploration, creativity, and imagination, helping children associate music with visual wonder.

For children with additional needs, lighting can provide a tactile and visual cue, helping with transitions, grounding them in the present activity, and enhancing their sensory experiences. In essence, lights combined with music create a multisensory journey that makes learning more memorable and meaningful.

Also a beautiful sight for us adults to enjoy too! ❤️

FREE to a good home. ❤️

Would any of my wonderful young music makers like to have my piano? I’m hoping to pass on this beautiful instrument to the next budding musician who wants to make music a special part of their life.

My lovely mum saved her money and bought this piano for me when I was young, and neither of us could have known just how much it would shape my career. It has been cherished and loved deeply over the years, and it would bring me so much joy to see its gift of music passed on to another child.

It needs to be tuned and collected from West St, Carshalton ❤️.

We finally moved our second piano into the Clubhouse! It was a long wait but we got there. 🎹

Why do we have two pianos you ask? A few reasons! 🎶

1. Demonstration and Imitation
We can play on one piano to demonstrate techniques, rhythms, or melodies, and the student can immediately try to replicate what they’ve heard and seen on the other piano. This instant feedback loop helps reinforce learning.

2. Duets and Harmonisation
Two pianos allow for duet playing, where students can experience harmonising and playing in time with another person. This is particularly beneficial for developing their sense of timing, musicality, and ensemble playing.

3. Layered Learning
We can play accompaniment while the student focuses on a melody or a particular exercise. This helps them understand how their part fits into a larger piece and makes the learning experience more immersive and enjoyable.

4. Confidence Building
Having their own piano to work on can make students feel more comfortable and less self-conscious, which helps with confidence, especially in a one-on-one setting.
