When you book a holiday online does the website make dining reservations for you?
Of course it doesn’t. It probably doesn’t even know you need to.
But I do. Increasingly All Inclusive properties that have a choice of dining venues are allowing guests to make dining reservations before they arrive, which of course means that any guests that don’t are left with what’s left - which can sometimes lead to disappointment.

This is an amazing holiday that one of my clients will be heading off to in a couple of weeks time - Gaya Island Resort, just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Borneo. This island resort is a world away from the everyday - lush rainforests with breathtaking views over the South China Seas, tucked away amidst protected mangroves and sheltered coral reefs.
The island has superb beaches and walking trails through the rainforest where you’ll see an abundance of wildlife. Spend your days snorkelling or diving the coral here is outstanding as is the marine life. Take a guided nature walk, learn some local crafts or head out on a fishing excursion. Just booked! An amazing Canadian adventure through the Rocky Mountains and over to Vancouver Island.
Super excited about this trip which took hours and hours over the weekend to get just right as the client is travelling in the next few weeks so trying to get everything to line up was a real challenge, but we got there.
This is an epic trip taking in Banff and Lake Louise with its bright blue iconic glacial lakes.
Through the Icefields Parkway and on to Jasper where they’ll do rafting on the Athabasca river - a great chance to see moose and eagles.
Through to Whistler for some thrilling zip lining before driving the Sea to Sky Highway to Vancouver.
Over to Vancouver Island where they are doing a few days glamping and will be kayaking up the inside passage to get up close with whales - this will be epic.
A few days more, this time on dry land in Tofino exploring the wilderness and hopefully seeing some bears
And finally finishing with a couple of days in the stunning city of Vancouver.
One visit to the Rockies is never enough and putting this together has made me yearn to return.

When it's time for lunch, Singapore has some fantastic hawkers markets, head to the Maxwell Food Centre - Michelin star chicken and rice anyone?
Historical Chinatown is bustling and vibrant - visit the Thian Hock Keng Temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Singapore and also the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
Be sure to visit the Gardens by the Bay - an incredible gardens that mixes nature with entertainment. Hang around for one of the free musical concerts with light shows on the Supertrees each evening and enjoy from the stunning aerial walkways.
Explore beaches, theme parks or water parks on Sentosa Island and make sure you leave enough time to visit Raffles for a Singapore Sling.
From Singapore there are numerous places to go - a really popular choice being Penang for some beautiful beach time.

Canary Islands 🏝
I'm often asked for recommendations for late summer sun and the Canaries are a great option as the weather is generally very good and its not too far to travel.
Each of the Canary Islands is different and offers a truly unique experience.
Tenerife is the largest in the archipelago and boasts golden and black sand beaches as well as luxury resorts - some in tourist resorts like Costa Adeje, but there's also an undeveloped, wild side to the island.
Alternatively, head to Fuerteventura where there are over 150 idyllic beaches to choose from, or to Lanzarote, offering a backdrop of dramatic volcanic mountains.
Gran Canaria is the southernmost point of the chain with its seaside resorts that edge onto warm Atlantic waters that are ideal for both relaxation and watersports.

Don’t Race Across The W🌏rld; Go Slow!
So tonight is the big finale and it’s going to be a close run affair. Our four teams have got to get from Jakarta to Lombok - how will they do it!
Lombok is not the land for racing, it’s a land for relaxation with beautiful beaches, volcanic peaks, lush rice paddies - it’s a land of spectacular beauty and is only accessible to our competitors by sea from Bali.
Our teams are likely to use the train network to get from Jakarta to somewhere like Surabaya or Yogyakarta.
They’ll then leave Java and cross to neighbouring Bali.
Let’s hope they have time to visit the cultural capital Ubud, the beaches of Seminyak and Sanur in the South before making their way East to Lombok.

What can I share about my experience
- Sky Princess is a beautiful ship - large but not enormous. The crew are super friendly and efficient and can’t do enough for you. Food and drink is good, everything is prepared from scratch and is really fresh.�
- You can barely feel motion, you’re aware you’re moving but I experienced zero sea sickness (and I am a rubbish sailor) and on our sea days we were travelling at around 20mph.�
- Book early to avoid disappointment - the best cabins in the best locations get booked up around 22 months before departure.
- Book early to avoid disappointment - and once you are booked, book speciality restaurants, spa treatments and anything else pre-bookable as early as you can. You can can cancel appointments really easily so its worth being organised.�
- Get stuck in. There’s so many things to experience on board - from a mad ‘egg drop’ yesterday, to dance classes, ice carving demonstrations, poker lessons, art auctions, deck top yoga, mixology classes and so so much more, so why not give something new a try.�
- And lastly, but most importantly - there’s a cruise out there for everyone, but getting the right cruise line, with the right ship and the right itinerary will define whether you love it or hate it. This 5 night sailing on Sky Princess will be completely different to a 14 night sailing for example.

A huge part of any cruise is the dining and here on Sky Princess there are lots of different dining options many of which are included.
Today I had the privilege of a behind-the-scenes galley tour, and it was so impressive. For anyone with food allergies you’ll be pleased to know that the food preparation for any allergen ingredients takes place completely separately before any other food preparation is done each day so that theres no chance of cross-contamination.

Where do you love to travel? I often get asked where I go on holiday and I've been incredibly lucky over the years as I have travelled a lot - along with my husband and two sons who are now almost grown up. Some people buy nice cars, clothes, dinner out, but any spare cash I have goes on travel. Some of our highlights over the past ten years or so would be - Walt Disney World Florida - I'd say we're Disney professionals now, if you've got a Disney question, send it my way. And Universal! Florida Keys - brilliantly laid back, anything goes, a party could happen at any minute on Key West - make sure to visit Mallory Square at Sunset. We like a good road trip - Highway 1 from San Fran to LA was great, with diversions into Sequoia and Yosemite. Another great road trip was the golden circle, Arches, Bryce Canyon National Parks, Lake Powell and Vegas. And yes, Vegas can work with kids...just. A huge favourite was our trip to Canada - Vancouver through to Calgary - the scenery and outdoor activities made for a truly memorable trip. And possibly the last of our American adventures was a road trip driving up from New York, through the Finger Lakes across the border at Niagara Falls and on to Toronto. We've also done Marrakech and Taghazout in Morocco, done the Balearics and Greek islands, Sardinia and Sicily, Mexico, Dubai and lots more. And we also love a city break Rome was our favourite, but we also loved Paris and Barcelona. We've got a long bucket list too, there are so many places left to explore.
