The House of Lords has been unable to stop a planned £30-a-week cut to disability benefits forced through by Government MPs. This will cripple those in receipt of these benefits, leaving many in literal poverty. The government must reverse this decision. Lives are at risk.

Came across this Dyslexia Simulator and thought it was pretty impressive - not everyone experiences dyslexia like this by any means, but for those who do, you can see how hard reading becomes...

A friend who has dyslexia described to me how she experiences reading. She can read, but it takes a lot of concentration, and the letters seems to “jump around”.

Good article about using open hardware to build better assistive technology http://buff.ly/1KDRMTZ, with some important points, but as Simon Judge on twitter noted, ignores important open hardware already in assistive technology and brushes over the fact that in practice long-term hardware reliability is valued more highly than long-term hardware upgradeability. Perhaps this should change?
