We stopped for lunch today, with our tour guests, at the pub used as the interior of the Drover's Arms in All Creatures Great & Small series 3. What an amazing place it is and the food is excellent!

We will be there again on the 21st April with our next group.

Today we've been with guests at Rufford Old Hall near Ormskirk.

It is a beautiful Tudor building surrounded by Victorian and Edwardian gardens. It was built in about 1530 for Sir Robert Hesketh, only the Great Hall survives from the original structure. A brick-built wing in the Jacobean style was added in 1661, at right angles to the Great Hall, and a third wing was added in the 1820s

Today we've been to Mayburgh Henge near Penrith, Cumbria

Mayburgh is a large and impressive Neolithic henge. Its banks stand up to three metres high, constructed of pebbles collected from the nearby river.

Near the centre is a single standing stone. Old drawings suggest that it was one of a group here, with two more pairs standing at either entrance, but they have since been removed.

As a tour company in the Lake District, politics is something we stay out of. However, when things start to damage the environment we work in, we feel we have to say something. Please go and read this petition about pollution affecting Windermere and if you feel as strongly as we do, sign it. The more people signing the more chance we all have of this becoming debated in Government.

This is the church at Tunstall that Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte and their two older sisters would have spent their Sundays when they attended the Clergy Daughters school at Cowen Bridge. Its a couple of miles walk across the fields from the school and all the girls would have walked there on a Sunday morning, no matter the weather, to hear Rev. Carus Wilson deliver a sermon. They would stay at the church, having a cold lunch until another service later in the day after which they would walk back to the school. Imagine the grimness of this on a wet and cold day!

As the 3rd series of All Creatures Great and Small has started in the USA we thought that some of you might be interested to see some shots of the village dressed for filming.

We are really happy as we have just set up our availability on our website for our All Creatures Great and Small Tour where you might be lucky and get to see the filming actually taking place! (link in comments if you are interested)

A walk from Haworth church to the evocative "Bronte Parsonage" today, home to Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte. Such amazing works of fiction were created in this place. 📚

Happy St. George's Day. The old parish church of the village of Sedbergh that nestles at the foot of the Howgill Fells affectionally known as "sleepy elephants". The parish church is celebrating with St. George's flag fluttering in the breeze 🇫🇴
