Heart 200 – The perfect destination for a walking holiday. Whether a casual woodland walk is enough, or you are not satisfied until you have completed a Munro in waist deep snow, Heart 200 has you covered. On, and just off the route, there are countless locations for you to get the boots (and paws) muddy on, and have somewhere warm to come back to. News from Historic Environment Scotland (HES).
Lochleven Castle will be open from Wednesday 17 May until 31 October 2023. The site will be open daily from 10:00am to 5:30pm April – September, with last outward sailing at 4:15pm, and from 10:00am to 4:30pm (last outward sailing 3:30pm) in October.
Given boat transport is required to get to the castle, visitors are encouraged to book tickets in advance and check for whether the transport has been affected by weather on the day.

It feels like summer, it looks like summer, it actually is summer, and summer is Highland Games season in Scotland.
There are lots of Highland Games going on around the Heart 200 area over the next three months, so keep an eye on this page for further news about places where you could go and see the action.
In the news today, Stirling Highland Games on Saturday 20th August will include events for disabled athletes.
Mark that date and get along to Stirling to cheer on the athletes and para-athletes.

Fancy a bungee jump?
Well, if you do, you should aim for Highland Fling Bungee at Killiecrankie in Highland Perthshire - on the Heart 200 route.
You might even fancy jumping twice in one day.
But how about jumping over 430 times in one day! What - you have to be crazy!!
That's what Frenchman Francois-Marie Dibon is hoping to achieve over a 24-hour period today and tomorrow. If he goes beyond 430 he will set a new Guinness World record.

Are there any 8 to 12 year-old children out there with a story to tell about a Historic Scotland site on the Heart 200 route?

Wordsmiths, storytellers and tale spinners – you could now win a range of prizes by submitting your stories about Scotland’s historic sites and have your story published online!

As part of Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022, Historic Scotland, the Scottish Storytelling Forum and Scottish Book Trust have launched their new prize draw - If These Walls Could Talk!

All young storytellers aged 8-12 can enter their spoken or written stories featuring a Historic Scotland site by Friday 24 June.

Outdoor Explore are offering a relaxed guided kayak tour at Loch Tay, from Kenmore, on the 11th of February. This beautiful venue is full of amazing wildlife, and is a true historical gem of Perthshire and Scotland.
The trip is suitable for any person aged over seven, though anyone under the age of sixteen must be accompanied by an adult.
The cost is £50pp, though if you wish to bring your own kayak the cost is £35pp (and the craft must be considered suitable for the journey). The guided tours are two to two and a half hours long.
