Saturday 23rd March - Pontymoile Basin to Goytre Wharf

Suitable for all standards

Meet at Pontymoile Basin 10:00AM
The first paddle of the season will be a relaxed trip on the Monmouth & Brecon canal from Pontymoile Basin to Goytre Wharf, a distance of approximately 6.5 miles.
The basin provides easy entry onto the canal with a slipway situated behind the café. There is parking at Pontymoile Basin and Canoes and Kayaks can be unloaded in the car park and moved to the slipway, which can be found behind the snack bar.

f you have your own canoe or kayak,and are interested in joining us, you can direct message us or email [email protected]. We would typically invite you along as a guest, so that you can see whether you like us before joining. If you don't own a canoe or kayak, please ask, we can often suggest where you can buy or hire one. The club doesn't own canoes to lend out.
Membership is just £15pa and covers the lead member and his or her immediate family.
Our members decide our programme, which rivers we canoe and the trips that we run for each season. Individual members volunteer to lead the trips.

The next club cruise is on Tuesday 19 September with the popular and easy 11 mile paddle from Preston on Wye to Hereford. This is rearranged from the scheduled date in August following cancellation due to dangerously high and fast river flow The cruise includes, the not so difficult Monnington Falls and a lunch stop, opposite the attractive terraced Nation Trust Weir Gardens.

If you have your own canoe or kayak,and are interested in joining us, you can direct message us or email [email protected]. If you don't own a canoe or kayak, please ask, we can often suggest where you can buy or hire one. The club doesn't own canoes to lend out.

A wonderful afternoon on the Wye for our paddle from the public launch at Hereford Greyfriars Bridge to Fownhope, approximately 9 miles. It was well attended with 5 canoes, 5 kayaks, 1 tandem kayak, and 1 sit-on. Thanks again to Peter & Madge for their hospitality hosting the post paddle BBQ

The next paddles on our fixture list are Saturday 2nd September M&B Canal and Saturday 9th September Whitney to Bycross, River Wye. if you would like to join us please message us.

As we near a last trimester of the clubs paddling season, members and visitors are making preparation for today’s BBQ cruise from Hereford Public launch point, near Hereford Asda, to Fownhope, approximately 9 miles. The paddle will be followed with a BBQ thanks to our hosts Peter & Madge

Hereford County Canoe Club is a family friendly, non-competitive, mixed-ability club for kayak and open canoe paddlers.

The Club, which started in 1956 organises a programme of sociable cruises on the River Wye and its tributaries, as well as other local waterways and one or two further afield.
All involve some social event, from something as simple as a bank side picnic lunch to a camp fire barbecue or weekend camp. Also, throughout the year a couple of evening social events are held.

Saturday 29th July

With a fast flowing River Severn beckoning, members from Hereford County Canoe Club took to the water for the annual paddle from Bridgnorth to Arley. Entry point was from the Severn Park slipway, with a planned exit at the the old car ferry slipway at Arley, roughly a 10 mile paddle. After a well deserved ice cream from the Post Office, the group returned to Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley steam railway
