Due to the vast landscape and the relatively infrequent riding of individual horses, many of these equines become semi-wild over time. As a result, catching and taming horses becomes a routine and essential task for the Mongolian herders.
To capture a horse, a skilled horseman mounts a specially trained horse, which possesses the necessary combination of speed, agility, and calm demeanor. The herders use either a lasso from this image or a long pole called an UURAG, which is a lasso that is attached to a long pole to catch the desired horse.
