Damien has raised £180 for Mencap!

‘I sold buns. I had party food and the van is 2024!’ - Damien.

Selling sweet treats (we hear the Biscoff cheesecake was a firm favourite) at Nostell Business Estate, Damien took the time to get to know his customers personally and let them know all about Mencap!

Damien really embraced telling everyone he met about himself and sharing his secret handshake! On top of this, he raised a whopping £180 for Mencap! 👏

After telling his friends at Monarch Vans how important vehicles are to him, they invited to him take a tour of their newest additions, which he throughly enjoyed! He also got invited to a Red Roots party as guest of honour!

We’re incredibly proud of Damien and his team for raising awareness and much needed funds for a very important charity with a worthy cause!

Thank you to everyone who donated and a huge well done to Damien!

The people we support at our Sunnywell service have been focussing on becoming more active, whilst still enjoying the treats in their life!

'On Tuesday, Mark and Adam did their usual Tuesday swim, but this time they really challenged themselves in support of Mental Health Awareness Week and did an incredible 40 lengths of the pool!

Although they were beginning to tire towards the end, with lots of encouragement they pushed on and were absolutely overjoyed with what they had accomplished. Needless to say, they enjoyed their full English afterwards and a restful afternoon in the garden.

We are also very proud of Joe, who has continued to walk a big hill near his house since the 8th of April. He has done this twice a day, every day!' - Angela, person we employ.

When asked what they like about swimming Adam told us, 'Yah good fun!' and Mark said 'Love swimming but I hope Man U win!' Joe said 'When I’ve done my walk, I have my treats!'

A huge well done to Adam, Joe, Mark and team Sunnywell!

👏👏👏

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week!

To celebrate the theme ‘Moving for Mental Health’ we’re sharing the inclusive ways the people we support regularly use movement to improve their wellbeing!

Person we support Matthew, has been working with his team to increase his exercise in ways that he enjoys, so that he can feel the benefits mentally and physically💪

‘Matthew really enjoys visiting various landmarks in the community and what better way to encourage movement and to focus on wellbeing, than working with him to do things he enjoys, like getting out and exploring on foot!

Our team at Sunnybank have worked with Matthew to produce a very person-centred support plan, introducing some extremely rewarding walk trails for Matthew, which he now goes on at least three times a week.

It’s amazing to see Matthew really enjoying nature and the fresh air and with the warmer days coming now, he can’t wait to go on more and see some more different sights.’ - Adam Pouton, Team Leader.

Matthew doesn’t want to quote this time, but he does want to share these pictures as part of his post!

Well done Matthew and team 👏👏👏

Damien has kicked-off his with support from the Castleford Tigers! 🐯🏉

'It was great to start my challenge today. It was good to see Castleford Tigers Players and walk around the stadium with them. Got a hat and a bag as well.' - Damien S.

Walking the first 7000 steps of a 49000 step challenge at the Jungle, Damien completed a lap of the pitch with players and spent some chill-out time with them in the dug-out!

'Damien was excited before he even went, speaking about it a few days leading up to it. The day of the event, he was excited to get dressed into his Castleford Tigers kit. He was giggling and smiling when we got there, constantly wanting to give a thumbs up and the players made him feel really comfortable, talking about his favourite subjects and learning his handshake routine.' Adam Pouton, Team Leader.

To help him raise money for the National Autistic Society, the Tigers are donating a signed shirt for him to raffle off. To donate to Damien and to be in with a chance of winning, please use this link:

👏 Yesterday we welcomed the Millennium Support team down to the ground to take part in Damien’s sponsored walk.

We invited him to take a De tour around the pitch and give him a well-earned rest in the new dugouts.

Thank you to the lads who joined in on the walk, Damien was thrilled and said, “It was great to start my challenge today. It was good to see Castleford Tigers players and walk around the stadium with them. Got a hat and a bag as well”

'Spring is Springing at the allotments!

After what has felt like a very long winter, we are seeing greenery and colour return to the community gardens!

The people we support in the Community Enterprise have planted tomatoes, chillies, cucumbers and mustard which have been growing nicely in the polytunnels and the spring flowers are looking lovely as well.

We can't wait to see what else will be growing over the next few months!' - Becca, Community Enterprise Support Worker

Walking a whopping 7000 extra steps each day, Damien is aiming to raise £100 for the charity, who support a cause close to his heart.

To help him reach his goal, Castleford Tigers have donated a signed playing shirt for him to raffle, and will be joining him on one of his walks to boost his motivation midweek! 🐯

Good luck Damien!

Yesterday was International LEGO Day and our Inclusion Group challenged the people we support to get creative!

The people we support at Sunnybank broke out their Lego bricks and had fun building and baking throughout the day! Meanwhile, our Community Enterprise learnt LEGO related Makaton signs and some new dance moves, too!

‘It was great to work in partnership with the Inclusion Group. Everyone had a brilliant time getting creative for International LEGO Day. We hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoyed building!’ – Scott Holt, Sunnybank Service Manager.

Well done everyone! 👏

We love these pictures sent to us by our Inclusion Group of their annual Winter Ball ❤️❄️

This year, the people we support chose a blue, white and silver theme for the event, which was enjoyed by everyone!

Well done to our Inclusion Group, who worked hard to create an amazing event, full of live music, a disco, food and a fun photobooth!

Our teams have been working with Gavin on his journey to independently enjoy foods in restaurants, local eateries and more specifically, to order his own food.

As part of his journey, Gavin has eaten fish and chips at the coast for the first time, ordered through the drive-through and now he has ordered his own meal in a restaurant!

The team are really proud of him, as although this may seem like a simple task to some, it is a huge achievement for Gavin, who continues to develop his skills in this area.

'After choosing a seat by the fire, Gavin was engaging with the regulars, telling them about his car and handing out fist bumps to all, as well as admiring the pub's Christmas decorations.

Gavin asked if we could do some jumping before his dinner arrived, a known coping strategy for Gavin. It is fantastic that Gavin is beginning to recognise when he needs to regulate himself and shows the fantastic progress he has made since joining Millenium and receiving top-notch therapeutic input courtesy of Lottie, Tylar and the team. ' - Luke Ward, Advanced Team Leader.

Incredible work Gavin and team! 👏

We’d like to give a huge congratulations to our Community Enterprise who got a phenomenal Second Place in the WDH Love Where You Live Awards! ❤️🥈👏

‘The group were nominated for all the hard work they do to make a difference in the community and at The Prince of Wales Hospice.

‘We were the last group up and even though the nerves started to kick in, we did it. Second place, what an achievement!’ - Michelle Morley, Community Enterprise Acting Team Leader.

‘I really enjoyed the WDH Love Where You Live Awards. I felt proud to represent Millennium Support. The atmosphere at the awards was really good. We came second, what an achievement in a group of 7.’ Michael, person we support.
