dvise on the latest security technology including CCTV, alarm systems and data, as consultants help mitigate risk whilst adding genuine value to each client. A highly flexible approach enables us to combine the expertise of different logistics management fields such as transport, storage, material movement and people flow. In business services, we supplement client operations with security and logistics consultancy and services that improve safety, efficiency and the customer experience. Celebrating 20 years of SIA licensing 🔒

Earlier this week, our COO - Gemma Quirke attended a reception at the House of Lords, celebrating the 20th anniversary of SIA licensing. The event was sponsored by Baroness Meacher, the first chair of the SIA, and featured keynote addresses from Lady Meacher, Heather Baily and Michelle Russell.

Gemma attended alongside Security Account Manager Luke Phillips who oversees our Visa contract, and Osman Muhammad who was nominated by his peers to attend in recognition of his contributions to improving security standards and public safety.

It was especially fitting to attend the reception in the week where we mark International Security Officers’ Day 2024. The date 24/7 reminds all of us about the important role of private security in protecting people and property, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Taking steps to raise domestic abuse awareness, and address Violence Against Women & Girls 🧡

We are delighted that earlier today our Gender Network was joined by Susan Bright - CEO at Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse who provided a compelling presentation that reflected on the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, organisational policy for employers, and EIDA’s handbook on domestic abuse response for the workplace.

The network engaged in a very insightful and informative discussion that explored how Wilson James can make further commitments to raising awareness and tackling domestic abuse, and supporting any colleagues who are impacted by it; and we look forward to seeing how this conversation drives further action in support of our efforts to address Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). We are proud to shine a light on EIDA’s mission, ensuring all employers take effective action on domestic abuse.

This we’ve delved into the Wilson James archives and found this fantastic photo from the Jubilee Line Extension, our very first project in 1991. The scheme was one of the most complex, and expensive, development projects of its time and we are proud that were appointed to provide site security to each of the construction project compounds 🏗️🚆

Congratulations to our 2023/24 Leadership Academy cohort who earlier this week finished their programme with a series of engaging and innovative business propositions, presented to our Executive Board. Wilson James has a longstanding commitment to the FORS - Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, and have held Gold status since 2014. We continue to maintain the highest standards and are dedicated to ensuring our fleet operations meet best practice for safety, efficiency, environmental protection and overall excellence. Our Transport and Compliance Manager - Tony Lenihan, has recently completed the new FORS Advanced Practitioner Qualification, elevating our expertise even further as we work towards a safer, smarter and greener vehicle fleet.

Celebrating two employees from our Wilson James family for receiving Long Service Awards 🏆

Congratulations to Amy Andrews, based at our security contract with the Museums Consortium, who has reached a Wilson James milestone of 15 years. Amy was presented her award by Peter Griffin, Museums Consortium Director.

Our second congratulations goes to Sheelin Alphonse, part of our security team at Tate Galleries, who received his award for 10 Years service. Sheelin was presented his award by Allison Dickin, Business Director.

Both of these achievements are truly impressive, and we extend our thanks to our dedicated long-serving employees for their unwavering support and diligent efforts throughout their time with Wilson James.

Providing the care and confidence for everyone to enjoy travel ✈️🐾

At Wilson James we believe that all passengers should have the same positive experience and a seamless journey, supported by staff who are knowledgeable about the entire airport, not just the Assistance Service.

We have therefore partnered with Guide Dogs UK to enhance accessibility within the airports we serve, training new groups of puppies who are navigating the airport environment for the very first time. Experiencing the Special Assistance facilities as well as check-in, security, departure lounges, gates, baggage halls and a plane, the puppies were immersed in the full airport experience with all its sights, smells and suitcases!

Thank you to Heathrow Airport, and British Airways for helping us facilitate this initiative, we look forward to welcoming more trainee puppies to the airport in the future!

Making It Visible on Time To Talk Day

We are thrilled to be working with Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity to support their campaign, and have recently welcomed the first of our branded vehicles to our fleet. These vehicles will be deployed on Wilson James site locations across the UK, raising awareness of wellbeing within the construction industry and offering support to those who need it.

Honesty - Building trust through transparency 💙

At Wilson James we pride ourselves on being fair and honest in all our activities.

As we start the year by reinstating our core values, this week we focus on Honesty. We spoke with Mark Abraham, Chief Financial Officer who said "For me honesty is about being open at all times, but especially when we consider bad news or difficult issues. If people know they can trust you to share bad news then they will clearly trust you with all news, and the driver for me around honesty is winning the trust and respect of my peers so we can communicate and collaborate as a team that is honest with one another."

Honesty allows us to build trust, foster transparency and enable long term success within the business, and it is important that we continue to embed this behaviour into our organisational culture as one of the Wilson James Core Values.

We spoke with Nick Channer, Chief of Staff who said “For me, Respect is WJ’s core value. It’s about how we treat each other every day, the way we would like to be treated ourselves.
