Marjies Place (named as a tribute to my Nanna who died during the lockdown) is a cosy little apartment on the west cliff area of Whitby. Set just a 2 minute stroll from the cliff top it is a perfect escape to the coast for couples.

We have been a bit quiet on social media lately as we have both been busy with our jobs and other projects. So let us introduce ourselves to you 😊 We're Liz and Alex - mother and daughter duo and the ladies behind Marjies Place Holiday Home in Whitby, which we have run together for the last 3 years.

🌟Alex owns the apartment and lives in London. Mum Liz moved to Whitby several years ago and lives just a 2 minute drive from Marjies. She runs a successful business locally and has just opened her new shop Wind and Willow in the town. She's our 'hands on' lady and keeps the place running day to day, as well as being accessible for our guests if they need anything.

🌟 A little bit about us - We both love to travel and Alex is fortunate enough to travel the globe for work ✈️ We are very close and we try to go on as many girly weekends away together as we can, and have created some lovely memories over the years.

🌟As foodies, we love to dine out, and enjoy anything from a good Indian curry to homemade pub grub! Having said that, we both agree that nothing quite beats an M&S picnic tea in the comfort of your pjs 😂

🌟If you are wondering where the name 'Marjies Place' comes from, it’s a tribute to Alex's Nan on her dad’s side of the family who was called Marjorie (Marjie for short). Sadly she passed away in 2020 but it's thanks to her that Alex was able to embark on this exciting adventure, so we felt it was only right to name it after her 💕

🌟Marjies Place itself is a recently renovated 1 bedroom apartment located on the West Cliff of Whitby. It is within walking distance of everything that the town has to offer, and has a wonderful view of Whitby Abbey from outside the bedroom door. It's the perfect spot for a couples getaway to the coast. We’ll go into more details about the accommodation in a separate post.

🌟Since opening in May of 2021, Marjies Place has consistently been awarded Airbnb Superhost every three months. We are very proud of the home away from home that we have created together, and like to think we go out of our way to make a stay at Marjies extra special for our guests. The West Cliff is a 2 minute walk from Marjies 😊

Are you a morning person who loves to watch a beautiful sunrise, or do you prefer to see the sunset at the end of the day? If you visit Whitby you can wander up to the west cliff and be lucky enough to experience both. 🌅

Whitby, despite being on the East coast actually faces due North, and its geography can seem quite confusing without having a map to hand. It is one of the only places where at certain times of the year you can see the sun rise and set over the sea. It’s stunning ☀️

For all you romantic couples out there - Marjies Place in Whitby is ideal for a getaway for two ❤️ wrap up warm and go for a stroll along the beach. Enjoy a hot chocolate and maybe a cheeky cake at one of Whitby’s cosy little coffee shops, then enjoy a dinner for two at one of the fab restaurants in town - maybe or (2 of our favourites)

Return home to Marjies, your own little hideaway on the west cliff - warm, cosy and inviting.
