Free parking at Lythe Cottage, Whitby and a fast, convenient, regular bus into the centre of Whitby, via beautiful Sandsend.

On Wednesday 4th September, the Tour of Britain cycle race comes to the area.
The riders will pass through Whitby, Sandsend and up Lythe Bank to pass Lythe Cottage, Whitby!
That's a very steep climb and will be quite a spectacle.

For an oldie, (did I mention that I've been around for hundreds of years?) I'm quite fond of this modern electrified music that the youngsters like.

So I was very pleased to see that Whitby Brewery, who put on many excellent acts for free, will be hosting the festival favourite Beans on Toast.

Note: This is a paid ticket event and sure to be popular, so don't delay.

The X4 bus runs every half hour between Lythe Cottage, Whitby and Whitby Bus station. Takes about 10 minutes.

Thankfully, guests at Lythe Cottage, Whitby can park their car for free and take the x4 bus from right outside!

More of the Spanish galleon Andalucia arriving in Whitby Harbour.

The Spanish galleon, Andalucia coming into the harbour on July 8th.

It's a replica of the ships used by the Spanish navy between the 16th and 18th century. I date back to the 17th century myself but although there is a distant sea view from my bedroom, I luckily never saw one of the originals sailing into Whitby to cause havoc!

The ship will be in Whitby until July 15th and the public will be able to go on board.

The wonderful Lythe Community Shop Ltd is 10.
In my opinion, one of the best shops there is.
Selling basic essentials, great coffee, amazing cakes, fine cheeses and other specialities (need quince jelly or preserved lemons? They've got them!)
The prices will make you smile too.

One of my guests did recently complain that the cakes were too tempting....but a stroll up and down Lythe Bank will soon burn those calories!

Here is a lovely book which you can see in the Archives and Library at the Whitby Museum.
I don't like to boast, but they've put me on the cover!
My page suggests that I might be the oldest building in the village, (which I will not confirm or deny), but I will confess to having had a little work done over the years to keep me looking my best!
