Grosmont rail trail is a popular walk, with alternative paths that can be added to extend this from an hour or two ambling to a days hike. The Barn is a great base for exploring the North Yorkshire moors and we provide maps and books featuring the local area to help you plan your adventures.

Our morning routine begins with feeding and watering the hens,ducks and geese. We wanted some new hens this year as our numbers are down to 10. I’m not sure if hybrids are for us though, as beautiful as they are they aren’t like our tough little bantams who go on forever! Mother, a favourite with a tufted black head is a heinz variety but she must be our best layer as long as we keep an eye on where she’s laying her eggs!The fence is to separate our naughty running drakes from the geese, they can be bullies! The rest roam free!
