Our morning routine begins with feeding and watering the hens,ducks and geese. We wanted some new hens this year as our numbers are down to 10. I’m not sure if hybrids are for us though, as beautiful as they are they aren’t like our tough little bantams who go on forever! Mother, a favourite with a tufted black head is a heinz variety but she must be our best layer as long as we keep an eye on where she’s laying her eggs!The fence is to separate our naughty running drakes from the geese, they can be bullies! The rest roam free!

September is a favourite month of mine for walking. Midge is 17 in a couple of months and still enjoying the lovely walks around the Esk Valley.
