Recently I was answering questions about the best season to visit Iceland with kids. From my own experience I would say that summer and very early autumn is perfect time for whale watching, horse riding and walking around, as well as relaxing in the thermal springs... Here are some photos from our own adventure with my 11-year old daughter in early September last year, unpublished by now :-) Brilliant weather, amazing colors and very relaxed season for any outdoor activities
