I have been a practicing book & archive conservator since graduating in 1995. Throughout my career I have gained knowledge and experience covering a wide range of materials, preservation and conservation techniques. As well as teaching conservation at West Dean College as part of the Continuing Professional Development programme. I continue to develop the basics of materials, science and ethics kn

owledge to support my continual professional development in my practical work. I am accustomed to taking novel approaches and pragmatic problem solving to provide bespoke conservation and preservation services. I have the flexibility to undertake work on items in my own studio or utilising your conservation studio space. Some examples of work undertaken but not an exhaustive list. Delighted to see the conservation work I did on I.33 Fencing Manual for the Royal Armouries, Leeds feature on the clip. Just a few glimpses of the new binding in vellum and alum tawed. The bespoke box and folder I made for it appear too. Such a lovely item to work on.

It is rare that I get to work on items that mean so much to the person requesting the work. Usually they are historically important to a collection but not often personal to the client.
These letters were chewed and torn into pieces by a puppy, the client called to ask if there was anything I could do, she thought they were irreparably damaged.
I flattened, lined and repaired these two letters. Rather more modern than the age of items I usually work on and that can be a challenge. The variety is interesting.
