We're excited to announce the completion of our latest #laboratory #fitout project for Bevie who produce ingredients for the commercial drinks industry and homebrew market.
The project involved expanding their R & D lab to create a modern facility with improved workflow and #efficiency but this involved a number of challenges.
Laboratory fit Out Challenges:-
• Limited timeframe as their lab was required for testing at all times and their temporary lab was only set up for essential activities
• Bevie’s R & D lab is situated on the first floor next to their main office
• Access was through the office so all equipment and materials had to be delivered through the working office
• Keeping noise levels at an acceptable level for Bevie’s staff to work next to a building site
• Programming of deliveries & noisy work around office working hours
• Additional Health and Safety measures required to manage traffic through an office environment
Results:-
Thorough communication with the team at Bevie meant they were kept informed of the delivery and work schedules
A big thank you to Klick’s contracts team who managed the programming with precision to minimise disruption to the working staff and completed the project ahead of schedule.

Lab design is a serious consideration. We frequently discuss the importance of creating a streamlined workspace and maximising flexibility. When confirming orders we often have to chase clients for decisions on taps, door colours and what might be considered as #trivial details.
But, the specification of the accessories and ancillary items are often what make a laboratory run more smoothly, whilst aesthetic appeal helps create a positive work environment.
Details such as automatic sensor taps for hand wash stations, appropriate provision for chemical storage, sufficient data points, fob access, satin chrome taps and cable management are all important when planning a laboratory.

Laboratory Fit Out
How Klick transformed an empty 16,500 sq ft warehouse in 6 months.
Biofortuna were looking for one company to co-ordinate all sub-contractors for the fit out of their molecular diagnostic testing facility. A specialist knowledge of laboratory fit out & a track record of similar projects was essential and their preference was for a single point of contact to maintain regular communication.
Klick ticked all the boxes and were selected as the principal contractor.
Initially a feasibility study was executed to assess the most cost-effective strategy and the optimum internal layout.
The priority was to order the structural steel for the 3,600 sq ft mezzanine floor as this was on the longest lead time.
Klick partitioned out the entire building and co-ordinated the M & E package, the HVAC, extraction systems & humidity control for specialist rooms.
The project included the #fitout of laboratories, clean room, walk in fridges/freezers, changing room, offices, breakout spaces, kitchen & additional toilet facilities.

Transformation of Empty Warehouse
Successful laboratory fit out
The state-of-the-art diagnostic testing facility needed to be up and running within 6 months to allow for relocation prior to expiry of Biofortuna’s existing lease.
Klick worked closely with the @Biofortuna technical staff to understand their lab processes, analyse their workflow and improve efficiencies. 2D & 3D plans were presented to illustrate how the space would work. The priority was to design a flexible space to accommodate staff numbers doubling in 18 months, to encourage collaboration and to create a positive working environment.
Biofortuna benefitted from Klick’s specialist knowledge of laboratory design & construction. They appreciated that @Klick Technology Ltd had fully understood their brief and had the expertise to co-ordinate the fit out of all internal areas, including the laboratories, offices, kitchen & breakout spaces.
We are extremely proud of the outcome.
