"Ghost haunt not just to scare, but to remind us of the strength we possess to overcome." ~ Anon

Alas, a walk through the old, unquiet streets in a quest to awaken the most notorious of the dead who once lay claim to the City of YORK with The Polite Tourist one evening - is now no more.

Recollect, however that although the ghosts which haunt the darkest recesses of an ancient city are now silent - the tales of those ordinary folk once lost to history will continue to patiently await the curious.

YOUR STORYTELLER:

The Lady Brigante loves nothing more than shocking unsuspecting folk with the tale that she was abandoned at birth by gypsies and raised en famille with kindly mice in the crypt of an old church.

Alas! The truth is altogether more unremarkable for although blessed with an illustrious and extensive lineage – Lady B was in truth raised in genteel affluence in the ancient City of York.

Described as the bête noire of the long forgotten dearly departed – the Lady B is a sleuth of infamy, wanderer of unquiet graveyards and much more besides.

And as the veil grows ever delicate 'twixt the living and the dead throughout the long month of OCTOBER and as she takes to the unquiet streets of YORK once more - she and her raven headed cane will heed our call in the search of our long-forgotten dead.

One mad March evening in the year 1953, a young soldier determined to enjoy his evening away from the rigours of barracks duty would make his way to a popular inn in the City of YORK for a pint or several.

However, by the dawn of the following morning - his life would never be the same again.

No dramatics. No make-believe. Just truth.

The history of the iconic Fairfax House has long woven an immense shadow over the area of Castlegate in the City of YORK.

Once an exclusive club, dance hall and popular picture house and if the walls of this elegant red-bricked Georgian building could chatter - they would have much to share with those whose curiosity yearns to be satiated.

And, with those lingering shadows poised to be gently peeled away to reveal the untold tale of one November afternoon in the year 1957 - why not walk awhile with The Polite Tourist one October EVENING in YORK as they present THE NIGHT FALLS FAST.

A ticket awaits an eager ear!
