Congratulations to Grenadian Triathlete Nina James for placing second in the Female Aquathlon for athletes 16 to 19 years old at the 2023 CARIFTA Triathlon, Aquathlon and Mixed Relay Championships . The competition took place August 26th and 27th in The Bahamas.

Grenada's Kirani James has ended his 2023 attempt of adding another medal to his collection.

The Grenadian quarter-miler ended his campaign in Budapest in 5th position however was subsequently DQ for lane infringement (17.3.1).

However it must be noted that since 2011, there have been ten (10) World Athletics Championships and Summer Olympics combined. Grenada's Kirani James has competed in nine (9) of those (missed the 2017 season due to illness), and has reached the finals of all nine (9) events.

That’s the most finals reached in global meets in 400M history.

In James’ previous eight (8) global Men’s 400 Meter events, he has medaled in 6 of them: Gold (2012), Silver (2016), and Bronze (2021) in the last three Olympics, and Gold (2011), Bronze (2015) and Silver (2022) at the World Athletic Championships.

⚠️ New National Record Alert!
Nazzio John has establised a new record in the prelims of the Men's 100 meter dash at the NJCAA Region VI Championships in Coffeyville, Kansas. This betters a time of 10.17 set in 2001 by Dr. Sean Lambert. Nazzio now holds National Records in two events, the indoor 60m and the 100m.

Meet Isaac Charles, form 4 Student at the Happy Hill Secondary School.

Isaac has a passion for livestock farming, and operates a goat farm.

According to Isaac, he prides himself on the quality breeding of goats.

Isaac started off with 16 goats but is currently down to 9. (having sold from his stock).

NATIONAL SWIM TEAM DEPARTS GRENADA FOR CARIFTA, AQUATIC CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CURAÇAO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 4th, 2023, St. George, Grenada: A fourteen-member contingent departs Grenada today to participate in the 36th CARIFTA Swimming Championships to be held in Curaçao. The contingent comprises a ten- member national team accompanied by their coach and other team officials.

The National team includes swimmers, Tilly Collymore, Sara Dowden and Anaika Otway of the 15-17 age group, Kristin Gresham, Zeia Ollivierre and Maggie Watson of the 11-12 age group, while the males comprise Mallon Patterson,13-14 male, and 11-12, Jacob Collymore and Jazziel Francis. The team is coached by Coach Gerson Escobar and team managers will be Mr. Nigel Gresham and Mrs. Ruth Collymore. US based Gabrielle Hyson of the 15-17 age group will join the team in Curaçao.

While this year’s CARIFTA Swim team comprises several newcomers from the 11to12 and 13 to 14 age groups, all the swimmers have previously competed in either of several regional and /or international games which include: Commonwealth, FINA World Championships, Pan American Games, CCCAN and OECS Swimming competitions.

Swimmers will compete in 4 to 8 events each. Female swimmer, Tilly Collymore, is the lone Grenadian swimmer to compete in the Open Water component of the CARIFTA Swimming Championships.
The athletes have been engaged in rigorous training in preparation for the competitions, and therefore the Grenada Amateur Swimming Association looks forward to keen competitions from
each swimmer and extends best wishes to the entire team.
