The second group of swimmers from Grenada returns tonight from St. Vincent.Grenada placed second overall in the the OECS Swimming Championships over the weekend. The team’s performance is commendable .Twenty of the thirty-four swimmers obtained medals .A total of of 114 medals were obtained: Thirty -five gold, thirty-three silver, and forty-six bronze.
A huge number of personal best times were also obtained by more than half of the number of team members.

In 2001, the Grenada Chocolate Company crafted something truly remarkable: Grenada’s very first artisanal chocolate bars, marking the beginning of a delicious legacy. This wasn’t just chocolate; it was a revolutionary approach to producing cacao, one that honored the land, the community, and the art of chocolate-making itself.

Imagine the journey of that first batch. From the cacao trees swaying in the Grenadian breeze to the handcrafted bars molded with care, each step involved local hands and hearts. Founders Mott Green, Doug Browne, and Edmond Brown had a vision—to make world-class, ethically produced chocolate in the heart of Grenada. They chose not only to source cacao locally but also to produce every single bar right here on the island. This “tree-to-bar” process was radical at the time and stood as a bold statement against the globalized, impersonal production methods of larger chocolate brands.

What made these first bars truly exceptional was the commitment to organic farming. The cacao used in these early bars was sourced from small-scale local farmers who cultivated their crops with pride and respect for the environment. By nurturing this connection with local farmers, the Grenada Chocolate Company established a model of fair trade and community empowerment that is still core to our philosophy today.

When those first bars were finally unwrapped and tasted, they were unlike anything else on the market. Grenadian chocolate introduced a bold and distinctive flavor profile—notes of rich, dark cacao, a hint of earthiness, and the unique terroir of the island. It was chocolate that told a story, connecting the taste back to the soil, climate, and hands that had lovingly shaped it.

That first release in 2001 didn’t just launch a product; it introduced the world to a new standard of quality and ethics in chocolate production. It put Grenada on the map for chocolate aficionados and sustainability advocates alike, who quickly fell in love with the story and the flavor.
