History under sails
The "Corsair" is an award winning classic Biloxi schooner built in 1978 to the lines of a classic shrimper or gulf coast freighter of centuries past.
Her graceful shear and sweet lines adorn a boat that was built to current US Coast Guard standards out of southern white cedar.
She was designed and built and by Captain Michael Broussard of Corsair Custom Wood Boats of Biloxi, MS, a third generation boat builder well known in the area. Captain Broussard has taught at the International School of Yacht Restoration (IRYS).
With a length on deck of 57 feet and an overall length of 74 feet, Corsair is an able long range, blue-water sailboat that has been used for sh*****ng in the gulf of mexico,been up and down the east coast of the US, serving as a sail training vessel, participating in advertising campaigns and even playing a role in the movie, "Interview with a Vampire".
