Fascinating Travels Georgia

Chronicles of Georgia is a monument located on Keeni Hill near the Tbilisi sea. It was created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli in 1985 but was never fully finished. The monument sits at the top of a large set of stairs, overlooking the northern part of the city from different directions. There are 16 pillars that are between 30–35 meters tall and the top half features kings, queens, and heroes while the bottom part depicts stories from the life of Christ. Beside bronze pillars, there is a grapevine cross of St. Nino, who first brought Christianity to Georgia and a chapel.

Jvari Monastery- VI century church and monastery, located in the east of Mtskheta, at the mouth of the river Mtkvari and Aragvi, on the rocky mountain peak. Jvari Monastery is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Upon adoption of Christianity, King Mirian raised a high wooden cross on this territory, which was worshiped by other Caucasian Christian nations. Guaram, the leader of Kartli, built a small church next to the cross nowadays known as "a small cross". At the end of VII and VII century, Guaram's son - Stepamoz I built a big temple next to a small cathedral, nowadays known as Jvari monastery. The wooden cross got covered up by a temple.

The Mtskheta church of Jvari is the first sample of the cross-shaped type churches, it is a new thing in the architecture. Other structures around the monastery (tower, fence) are much older. On the facades of the temple, you can see religious and historical persons, there are old inscriptions too.

Oshka Monastery
Oshki - Saint The most important Georgian monastery center of the X century of the 50-60s of the house of John the Baptist in the historical Tao, on the left high bank of Tortumiskli, village Chamliamachi, Ezerum province of present Turkey. The first of the four great cathedrals (see. Svetitskhoveli, Bagrati Cathedral, Alaverdi). The cathedral is unified in the monastery complex, with the remaining seminar-satrapezo and small churches.
Builders of the complex were Tao's Bagrationi, sons of Adarnase III Kurapalate - Bagrat Eristavteristavi and David Magistrate (also David III Great Kurapal). The architecture of the cathedral repeats the characteristic motifs of its predecessors and presents it in a more enriching and intricate manner. The Oshki Cathedral is built on an emergency-removed substruction, which contains graves. The cathedral is a tetrakonx, with a free dome. The cross-line of the temple is preserved in the perimeter, but the roundness of the aphids does not dissolve, shaped into the rectangular arms. Oshki was surprisingly infatuated with reliefs and curves. Just a little of the painting saved.
Despite the importance of Oshki throughout the late middle centuries, he was unknown to Georgian reality, due to the occupation of South Georgia by Turkey. From researchers Oshki the first Venetian Armenian learned N. Sargisiani visited 1843-1853. Especially notable are Ekvtime Takaishvili's three most important expeditions in Tao-Klarjeti, during which the Oshki Monastery was completely described and measured.
