🗺 We are continuing our project -"The Village is a visiting card of Cyprus" or «How through the villages you can plunge into the real Cyprus!»
🏖 Our next stop was on the other side of Cyprus.
🏖 Let's be honest, even before the lockdown we managed to shoot a report and feel the heroes of the legend about the «Ayia Napa Sea monster».
🏖 Our team was amazed after our hike through the resort towns of Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimni, thanks to our guide.
🚩 Our exploration began from the Cape "Cavo Greco" located in the southeastern part of the island of Cyprus, it is formed by the eastern end of Ayia Napa Bay and the southern end of Famagusta Bay.
🏖 Cape "Cavo Greco" is the beauty and naturalness of nature, bizarre landscape formations, crystal clear waters with shades from light blue to turquoise, emerald and dark blue, magnificent sunsets.
🏖 The nature of the park attracts not only professional photographers, but also hikers and bikers, divers, naturalists, supporters of ecological tourism, nature lovers, and many other researchers like us.
🏖 The rocky coastline of Cavo Greco indented with many coves, lagoons, sea caves, and grottoes.
✅ We amazed by the beautiful complex of sea caves "Sea Caves", located in the central part of the western coast of Cavo Greco.
✅ The coast attracted us with interesting and mysterious caves such as “shark's mouth”, “captains 'grotto”, the “Image of the Mother of God” cave, and the “pirates' cave” located to the left of it.
✅ Most of these caves are associated with legends and stories about pirates who kept their treasures in them. It is a pity that the caves can only be seen from the sea.
🏖 The shores of the cape are decorated with arched ones like “Lovers 'Bridge”, located at the entrance to Ayia Napa, Stone Arch or “Sinners' Bridge” is located on the opposite side of the cape, next to the Church of the Holy Unmercenaries (Agioi Anargyroi).
👉 All this carved into the coastal rocks by the wind and waves of the sea.
👉The most interesting thing is that the cape intertwined with hiking trails and cycling routes, which are about 16 kilometers long.
👉 The park is known for its excellent hiking, swimming, diving, horse riding, fishing, paragliding. In some places of the park, there are picnic and recreation areas, viewing platforms.
🚩 The next step we visited is the famous beach and Konnos Bay, a picturesque, sandy beach located on the edge of the tourist area of Protaras.
🏖 The beach occupies a quiet bay at the foot of the mountains overgrown with dwarf pines. Natural beauty blinded us.
🏖 We plunged into pirate time, presented ourselves as heroes of the Cousteau research expedition.
🏝 It is a pity that only we could not have dinner at the Konnos Bay Kiosk cafe-restaurant.
🚩 As our guide told us, in ancient times on the Territory of Cape Cavo Greco Park there was a temple of Aphrodite Cypride.
At present, practically nothing remains of the temple.
🚩 We most impressed by the Aya Anargiri Church or the Church of the Holy Unrebrenics, a functioning Orthodox Church, erected on the edge of a rocky cliff.
⛪ The beauty of these places, the romantic atmosphere, intoxicated us, it turns out that there are many people, who want to marry.
🚩 Nevertheless, the Blue Lagoon can be ordered in one word - that this is one of the places that fully correspond to its name.
🚩 We also visited the administrative and exhibition and educational center Cavo Gkreko Visitor Center. From the building of the Center, there are roads and paths leading to all the attractions of Cavo Greco.
📜 We most impressed by the legend of local residents, according to which the Ayia Napa monster lives in the coastal waters of the Cape Cavo Greco Park. The mythical creature is nicknamed “To Filiko Teras”, which translates as “friendly monster”.
The monster received this name because it does not harm people.
Locals say that “To Filiko Teras” is a sea monster from the ancient Greek mythology of Scylla.
👉 Moreover, whether it found now, no one knows, we definitely did not meet it.
😉 Maybe get lucky next time.
🚩 One of the latest attractions is the Peace Monument, a monument depicting a flock of birds flying up into the sky.
The inscription on the pedestal tablet reads-“From Cyprus - to the World, from the World - to Eternity.
A message about peace, friendship, freedom, faith in God and Man”.
The Cypriot sculptor Philippos Yiapanis, installed in 2000, created the monument. Locals sometimes call it a “bird monument”.
🚩 In addition, I, as a lover of parks, trees, especially mystical and magical, liked the lone tree (Lone tree) or “tree of desires” juniper tree from Ayia Napa.🌴
In the shade of the spreading crown, there are two benches where you can relax.
‼️ According to local belief, if you tie a ribbon to a tree branch and make a wish, then it will definitely come true.
⛵ Dear subscribers and guests of our channel, we are glad to delight you with new stories and events of this beautiful island.
🚩 Come to paradise Cyprus, we always waiting for you here...
