تستقطب بحيرة السلاحف الألاف من السياح في كل صيف وتعد المكان المثالي لقضاء يوم رائع حيث تعد أحد أهم المعالم السياحية في تبليسي لما توفره من مرافق مميزة وممتعة.إشتهرت بحيرة السلاحف في تبليسي بهذا الإسم ليس لكونها تضم الكثير من السلاحف مثلما يظن البعض بل لأن شكلها يشبه السلحفات من الأعلى فهي بحيرة جميلة تقع في قلب التلال على إرتفاع أكثر من 600 متر فوق سطح البحر على ضفاف مدينة تبليسي وتطل عليها.

توفر البحيرة لزائريها الكثير من المتعة في أحضان الطبيعي حيث تعكس الإخضرار الجذاب الذي نراه في أشجارها وجبالها على البحيرة مما يعطيها رونقا مميزا، ولأن الحديقة حول البحيرة لها ممشى مخصص بين الأشجار فننصحك بالسير عليه حول البحيرة ووسط التلال والتمتع بجوها المعتدل.

تقع مدينة تبليسي في جورجيا في بلاد القوقاز، على سفوح جبال الترياليتي، وعلى طريق الحرير قديماً، وهي عاصمة البلاد وأكبر مدنها، ويقسمها نهر كورا إلى قسمين رئيسين، مما يعطيها جمالاً وروعة من جهة، ودوراً استراتيجياً من جهة أخرى؛ فهي الجسر الذي يصل الشرق بالغرب، وهي خط الأنابيب الأول لنقل نفط بحر قزوين.

How cold does it get in Georgia?

**Georgia has an extremely diverse climate. Generally speaking, the eastern part of the country is drier and crisper, while the west is more tropical and humid.
Tbilisi remains relatively mild throughout the winter months, averaging 2-8 degrees Celsius during the day from December to February, and dropping down to 0-2 degrees overnight. The mercury rarely dips below freezing. Since there is no ice or sleet – and there are often blue skies over Tbilisi – the city is very pleasant and crisp in winter.
In the mountain regions and plains of southern Georgia, by contrast, winters are very frosty indeed. Popular mountain areas such as Svaneti, Racha and Kazbegi all see heavy snow from December onwards and below freezing temperatures. It can get as cold as -13 degrees Celsius in Mestia and January

**Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park **

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is the first national park created in independent Georgia in 1995. It is one of the biggest park in Georgia, with the total area is 104,099 hectares, which is more than 1.5% of country’s territory.

**Mtskheta, is the former capital of the country located only 25km away from Tbilisi, making it one of the most popular day trips in Georgia. This UNESCO World Heritage Site town still reserves the glory and charm in its architecture, houses, and marvelous religious buildings. The city is small and entirely walkable. Main attractions of Mtskheta – Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the 11th-century cathedral with gorgeous frescos and exciting history. The temple is the second largest religious building in the country after Tbilisi’s Holy Trinity Cathedral.
The 2nd attraction is the 4th-century Samtavro Monastery. This cross-in-square church features typical decorations for the 11th-century, the time when it was restored and reconstructed. It’s a burial place for a famous Georgian Saint monk Gabriel. Jvari Monastery is another important religious site in Georgia, sitting on the top of the hill overlooking Mtskheta and the confluence of two major rivers of the country – Mtkvari and Aragvi. The panoramic views of red rooftops with Svetitskhoveli in the center is absolutely stunning. The name “Jvari” translates at “cross” in Georgia and refers to its cross-shaped church architecture widespread in Georgia and Armenia. This Early Medieval Georgian temple remained almost unchanged.

**Tbilisi – A Short Summary
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia. It is lying on both banks of the river Mtkvari among the hills. Tbilisi was set up in the 5th century by King Vakhtang I of Iberia (Vakhtang Gorgasali) and since then has been the home of multi-cultural and multi-ethnic people. It is predominantly an Orthodox Christian city, but can still boast having a Catholic church, Orthodox church, Synagogue, Minaret, and Gregorian church, all in one district.

***The legend****
King Vakhtang Gorgasali was hunting near the Mtskheta, the capital city, when his falcon caught an injured pheasant. Both birds fell into hot springs and died. When the king found the birds in the hot sulphur springs, he decided to build a new capital on that spot. He named the city – Tbilisi, which is derived from the Georgian word ‘Tbili’ which means warm.
