I finally gained enough courage to try an applique, and the rewards of doing so were incredible. Appliques simply make me giddy. I love their freshness and simplicity. And one of the greatest benefits is the ability to make it your own with your choice of fabrics! Born in the late 70's, I was impacted in the 80's by wonderful geometric prints and simplistic artwork. Put three simple trees in a row
on a tshirt, and I will call it beautiful! I am super excited about the recent popularity of retro trends with a modern twist. Don't get me started on chevrons. I am seriously thinking about outfitting our whole house and wardrobes with chevron prints. Anyway, appliques are great ways to incorporate your own special style in each design. I began my first embroidery website (theflossyfitzy) a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed mixing fabrics and colors to create unique backpacks, tote bags, and lunchboxes. (I can't resist adding a plug for the wonderful line of mint products. If you haven't seen their ginghams and seersuckers, you should give them a visit!) Appliqued products sell well when you start with a great canvas! I have also had the privilege of supplying mint with appliqued samples for their showrooms in Dallas and Atlanta marts over the last couple of years. I have since closed theflossyfitzy to allow time to launch appliqueaday. Simply put, I am in my element. I strive to digitize designs that are orderly with a simplistic design. I love designs that have a retro, yet modern feel. I appreciate designs that remind me of my childhood. I want my girls to have ties to my wonderful memories as they are making their own. I have started my version of blogging on appliqueaday's page. Make sure you find the app 101 topics; I would to hear what tips you have stumbled upon! Mine are usually found hiding behind a mistake. I am so glad to be a member of the applique industry. I have the wonderful opportunity of being with our two girls while being able to work from home. I am amazed at the wonderful ways that God carefully guides us to and through the paths He has for us. I just had a customer comment on the "unusually high number of believers in the applique industry"! Wow Emily... how true! I consider it a great privilege to be working alongside other believers and followers of our wonderful Creator. Thanks for reading along!
