Georgia is the host country of the ITB in Berlin next week, and our hotel partner will represent Svaneti and present his newest hiking book on 8 and 9 March, thanks to the GRETA project.

The support from the community is incredible. Every day some 20 - 25 men have come and helped as volunteers to put on a new roof. Tomorrow there will be new snow, so we must try to finish as much as possible tonight.

Yesterday the heavy snowfalls caused many avalanches and the roof of one of our hotel buildings collapsed. Nobody was injured. A new and stronger roof will soon be in place. The hotel is in operation. All guests are well taken care of.

This time of the year is special. Few guests come here to see it. The overwhelming blossoming of the yellow (honeysuckle) azalea (Lat: rhododendron luteum). The edges of all meadows around our hotel are filled with these intense, yellow pieces of beauty.
