“Darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future looks blank. The temptation to quit is huge. Don’t. You are in good company… You will argue with yourself that there is no way forward. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive. Wait. Pray without ceasing. Hope.”
– John Piper

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park was one of the largest slave markets during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. It is especially worth seeing as a prelude to viewing Cape Coast slave castle since you will be following the route taken by the ancestors of many African Americans.
Assin Manso served as a place where slaves had their last bath on their journey. It also has the site where the returned remains of 2 diasporans (Lady Crystal from Jamaica and Carson from New York) were re-buried. The Emancipation day durbar together with the visit to the slave river as well as laying of wreaths at the graves of returnees are held annually on August 1 to commemorate and climax the celebrations.

This is the Kakum National Park, the only national park established by the people, not government. The park is located in the coastal environs of the Central Region of Ghana, covers an area of 375 square kilometres. Established in 1931 as a reserve, it was gazetted as a national park only in 1992.

The uniqueness of this park lies in the fact that it was established at the initiative of the local people and not by the government. The park has a canopy walkway, which is 350 metres (1,150 ft) long and connects seven tree tops which provides access to the forest.

This is Aburi, a town in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The town is famous for the Botanical Gardens and the Odwira festival.

The name Aburi is the adulterated version of ABUDE by the European missionaries and traders. Oral history indicates that, an aboriginal settler, by name "Abu” was given a place to settle which became 'Abu de' (that is the portion of 'Abu’ in Akan) and 'Abu de’ developed into 'Aburi'.

“For this end Africa needs a new type of citizen, a dedicated, modest, honest and informed man. A man submerges self in service to the nation and mankind. A man who abhors greed and detests vanity. A new type of man whose humility is his strength and whose integrity is his greatness”
