A-6 Day Cultural Immersion Tour
Day 1: Accra – Hohoe
After an early breakfast you will drive to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, a community based attraction. The sanctuary has a population of about 350 Mona monkeys which are protected. They are believed to be sacred and are highly respected by the local people. After which you will make a stopover at Liate Wote to hike to the highest mountain in Ghana, Mount Afaja (2,095 ft). From the top, you can enjoy fantastic panoramic view-surrounding communities, forest, mountains, valleys and the Lake Volta all viewable from the peak.
Continue to Wli waterfalls, the highest falls in West Africa with a height of about 60-80 meters. To get to the waterfall, you will walk through the rain forest of Agumatsa on a small footpath crossing 9 smaller streams. The Agumatsa wildlife sanctuary offers a chance to see a large colony of fruit bats, butterflies, and birds.
Continue to Hohoe and check in at hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Hohoe – Nkwanta
Depart Hohoe for Nkwanta. On arrival, you will pay a courtesy call on the paramount chief of Akyodes house and his elders as well as the headquarters of the Kyabobo National Park.
Check in at hotel and spend the rest of the day interacting with the local community.
Day 3: Abrewankor Village – Kyabobo National Park
Today, after an early breakfast, you will visit Abrewankor. Abrewankor is a green, spacious village located between Gekorong and Njambong. It is said to be the ‘chief-town’ to the Akyode people, probably the oldest of all fringe communities, the first settlers arrived around 1500. It is an old town that has well-preserved artisans still able to produce sleeping mats, carvings and clay pots with traditional techniques.
Continue to the Kyabobo National Park located in the Nkwanta district of the Northern Volta Region. The park covers 359.8 Km and it’s a dry semi-deciduous forest zone and has both forest and savanna species of plants and animals. Animals common to the park include Buffalo, Kob, Warthog, Aardvark and Baboon. You will also visit the historical cave where the people of Abrewankor first settled.
Return to hotel after lunch. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Shairi
After breakfast, depart for Shiari, one the small villages in Nkwanta. At shiari, you will visit the hanging village.
Continue with visit to the old lady. She is one of the final settlers of the three settlers of the Guan people that migrated. It is said that she was not strong enough to make the journey up to Mount Kyabobo. The elderly woman stayed behind and this is where the name Abrewankor originates from-meaning: ‘the lady who could not go on and stayed behind. She will narrate to you how they founded the village and how pottery making became one the sustaining businesses of the town.
You will also participate in Fetching of water from the river side where you will hike through the two mystery stones before getting to the river side.
Continue to Keri after lunch. You will be met with traditional drumming and dancing with the display of African magic and fe**sh. You will also visit the magic tree and the mystery palm.
Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight
Day 5: Nwanta – Akosombo
Today after breakfast enjoy a scenic drive from Nwanta to Akosombo. Akosombo is located in Akwamuland of the Eastern Region of Ghana. Legend has it that the name “Akosombo” was derived from an Akan word “Nkonson-konson-bo” meaning a chain of rocks. You will find the township surrounded by mountains that virtually form a chain around the township. . The town is located north east of the capital, Accra. The river on which the dam is built can be described as a conglomerate of three rivers; the Black, White and Red Voltas.
Check in at a riverside hotel. Enjoy a boat ride on the Volta Lake.
You may spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 6: Departure
Return to Accra after an early breakfast.
Transfer to the airport for departure formalities.
