Pleasant rising from the ‘Kosamba’ first bath river site!

THE KAKUM RIVER( APON APON KWESI)
The Akwaaba Spiritual Liberation Pilgrimage paid a familiarization visit to''APON APON KWESI'' a river deity which also serves as a source of clean drinking water to the entire Cape Coast and its environs. It takes its source from Brimso (a suburb in Cape Coast)and meanders through three communities and finally enters into the ATLANTIC OCEAN.The river got its name because of how its meanders(APON APON).
The visit which sought to put in place the bank of the river for welcoming and naming ceremony for our brothers and sisters in the diaspora.
THE ''KO SAMBA BATH'' which literally mean cleansing and claiming our ancestral identity, aim at taking a first thorough bath for our brothers and sisters at diaspora beyond the return as KINGS & QUEENS to fortify our true selves from the ideologies the West imparted in us. The APON APON KWESI RIVER(River deity) been the best spot because of the power he posses; serving the community as a healing water to cure skin diseases, providing children to the barren and protecting the members of the community from misfortunes and spiritual attacks.
Its about time we all take that pilgrimage to reconnect to our root and reclaim our ROYAL STATUS as Black African Family.✊

Adinkra Symbols on your wrist as an African! Adinkra are symbols from Ghana that represent concepts or aphorisms. Adinkra are used extensively in fabrics, logos and pottery. They are incorporated into walls and other architectural features. Adinkra symbols appear on some traditional Akan goldweights.

Below are some crafty designs of Adinkra symbols made from copper in wires, calabash and permanent ink. DM to place your orders.

Kente refers to a Ghanaian textile made of handwoven cloth strips of silk and cotton. The name was derived from the word "kenten", which means "basket" in the Asante dialect of Akan language, referencing its the basket-like pattern. In Ghana, the Akan ethnic group refers to kente as nwentoma, meaning "woven cloth". Ashanti folklore includes a story where weavers invented kente by seeking to replicate the patterns of the spider known as " Ananse"

West African cultures have been weaving textiles for thousands of years. Kente may have developed from a variety of weaving traditions which existed in Ghana since before the 11th century, with excavations in the region showing instruments such as spindles, whorls, and loom weights.

By the 17th century, during the rise of the Ashanti Empire, Kente became popularized among Akan royalty, and by the early 19th century master weavers and Kente houses could be seen throughout the Ashanti capital of Kumasi. "Bonwire" a village in the Ashanti Region is said to be hub where the production of Kente emerged and ethnic groups like Akyem, Ashanti, fante, etc are commonly seen rocking this amazing handwoven cloth commemorating special occasions like Marriages, festivals, etc.

01/09/2020

The African Foundation Dance Theatre, a non- profit making organisation, is a dance troupe under Artistic Director, Mr. Samuel Akpalu. The African Foundation Dance Theatre (AFRODAT) was founded in 14th October, 2007 for the promotion and advancement of the performing Arts. The troupe currently is made up of young dancers from diverse ethnic backgrounds ranging in age from 10 to 35 years old and exemplifies what is best about our world. A truly multicultural company, the children have discovered that dance is an international language.

In creating the African Foundation Dance Theatre, Mr Samuel Akpalu hopes that dancers and audiences alike will be inspired to connect to other cultures and thus, contribute to the understanding and friendship between different ethnic groups in Ghana and the rest of the world.

The members of the troupe share a passionate interest in expressing their love through culture and dance. Over the years, the

AFRODAT has enjoyed performing and educating audiences at many events.

With the proceeds from AFRODAT performances, drumming and dance lessons/workshops offered, the organization provides some of its children with all needed clothing and materials to attend school, accommodate, feed, gives medical care, stationery, uniform, shoes, bags and pastoral care to needy children, extracurricular activities in drumming, creative arts, reading, sports and dance.

We continue to embrace African cultural heritage through Music Dance and Drama in both our composition and performances, weppp typically identify our selves with the true African authentic dancing and costuming. The troupe performs on wedding ceremonies, cocktails & Dinners, Luncheons, Graduation and birthday parties, state functions, promotional shows and all sorts of celebrations that require a cultural touch. We (AFRODAT) is committed to promote the rich African cultural heritage through Music, Dance and Drama.

We are based in Ghana, a very peaceful country in West Africa with lots of challenges to its development. Ghana faces problems in areas which includes; poor health facilities, insufficient Educational resources (human resources and materials), HIV/AIDS pandemic, Malaria, Tuberculosis, inadequate or lack of drinking water, poor communications and attitude (over reliance on government support or foreign aid for development, culturally inherited superstitions), and in certain areas children cannot go to school due to financial difficulties.
Taking into consideration all these challenges and knowing that the government cannot solve these challenges alone, we believe the involvement of the private sector in the quest for development would greatly assist those individuals and communities affected. Our love and strong desire to influence and improve people's lives brought about the establishment of African Foundation Theater.
