Mike Eghan (born 14 March 1936 Sekondi -Takoradi ) aka “The Magnificent Emperor ” is a Ghanaian broadcaster. In a career spanning six decades, he hosted programmes for the GBC & the BBC. He was the MC for the historic concert in Ghana Soul to Soul, which took place at Black Star Square in 1971 and showcased many prominent African-American artists alongside Ghanaian musicians. Source

Carvers carving the Asante royal stools | ca. 1971 | Near Kumasi. Stools became sacred and symbolic, used by rulers and passed downthrough the generations. A stool was thought to contain the soul of its owner and, when not being used, it was put on its side to stop evil spirits sitting on it.
