Under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, PANAFEST & Emancipation 2019 have been launched today at the Centre for National Culture in Cape Coast.

PANAFEST is the Pan African Historical Festival which started in 1992. It is a biennial festival promoting Pan Africanism through Arts and Culture that is held every two years in Ghana.

Emancipation Day is celebrated on 1st August every year in Ghana since it was introduced in 1998. It commemorates the significant date of 1st August 1834 when slavery and slave trade was formally abolished in most of the British Empire.
