Top Hills Travel & Tours Makes History with AKL Lumi Currency Payment Milestone

We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking milestone for Top Hills Travel & Tours, represented by our Managing Director, Khadijah Wadza. An agreement has been signed appointing Top Hills Travel & Tours as the official travel agency for the Ai Africa Project, championed by the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana and sponsored by the African Diaspora Central Bank (ADCB).

Top Hills Travel & Tours has made history by becoming the first travel and tours company to issue tickets on the KLM/Air France via Accra, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, and Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Accra routes. This remarkable achievement also marks our first payment received in AKL Lumi currency through Hanypay, a Ghanaian fintech platform licensed by the ADCB.

By accepting payments in AKL Lumi, Top Hills Travel & Tours signifies a bright future for Ghanaian and African businesses, showcasing the potential for innovation and growth in our region. In the coming months, Top Hills will be issuing airline tickets globally for the Ai Africa Project Trainers, who are set to provide world-class training for the Ai Africa Project.

The AKL Lumi is a digital currency introduced by the ADCB to facilitate trade and economic growth within Africa and the global African diaspora. Pegged at USD 15.96, the AKL Lumi is underpinned by 4 grams of gold and underwritten by 100 kilowatt-hours of solar energy, ensuring its stability and value.

The Lumi began its usage in 2014 by the Maroons of Jamaica, issued by the Bank of Accompong. It has since been adopted by ECO-6 and is now issued by the ADCB. Distribution of the AKL Lumi is managed by two fintech companies approved and licensed by the ADCB: Swifin, a UK-based fintech, and Hanypay Ghana Ltd, a Ghanaian fintech.
