Yesterday was another huge landmark in the history of the professional tour guides in Ghana as they welcome one of the biggest vessels that ever docked on the shores of Ghana.

SERENADE of the SEAS is a 293 metre long cruise ship with 13 decks. It has the capacity for carrying 2,490 passengers and 891 crew members.

Some of the passengers who disembarked the cruise ship yesterday did tours to the Cape Coast and Elmina castles. Some also visited the Kakum national park.
Others had interactions with school kids at Duakror and were treated to cultural drumming and dancing. The rest were at the Sam Bosomtwi fishing harbour to fratenise with our fisherfolks.
It was a very memorable day for all the tourists onboard the SERENADE cruise ship.

Once again, kudos to our expert and professional tour guides who took very good care of these tourists.

The main attraction of the day was the Zangbetor dance in the Republic of Benin.
Zangbetor is a traditional voodoo guardian of the night among the Ogun (Egun) in Togo, Benin and Nigeria.
The Zangbetor cult is charged with the maintenance of law and order and ensures safety and security within Ogun communities.
In recent times, the dance is more for entertainment purposes. (A good cultural tourism experience)

TOUR DAY 1 :- First stop on leaving Accra was Sogakope to stretch out and refresh.
Next stop was a courtesy call on Trans Africa. A very prominent tour company in Lome.
There were also visits to Palais de Lome, a German colonial building that also served as Togo's presidential building.
Last was the famous fe**sh market, also in Lome.
It's been a very eventful day.

*The President, national / regional executive as well as the entire membership of the Tour Guides Association of Ghana (TORGAG) dissociates itself from the embarrassing, erratic, reckless and unprofessional so called guiding at the Jamestown Lighthouse.*

*TORGAG is an association of professional, well trained seasoned and experienced tour guides who deliver well researched and cross checked facts.*

*That is why TORGAG insists on every guide within its fold going through a systematic, well planned training programme and mentorship.*
*Not the ad hoc type that has no impact.*

*We implore the regulating body(ies) to do their best to w**d out the charlatans from this noble profession of tour guiding. Thank you.*

*President.*
