Did you know Gemi is actually an acronym?
In 1939, Germans built a cross on Mount Gayito and the inscribed the name … German Evangelical Missions Institute (GEMI) on it.
Gradually, the original name of the mountain (Gayito) faded away because tourists adopted the acronym GEMI as the mountain’s name.

Did you know that Mount Gemi was originally called Mount Gayito which means “God of Defense”. The mountain served as the first line of defense for the early settlers of the area. It helped them survive several attacks.

Fort Prinzenstein is a fort located at Keta, Ghana which was used in the slave trade.
This fort has been designated as a World Heritage Site because of it’s historical importance and testimony to the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade.
