I have never felt this happy and free in my entire life. I never knew a place like this existed. The people here are friendly and welcoming; they don’t show us how beautiful Ghana is Back home, all we see on TV are kids in poor communities, war, and poverty. Everyone needs to travel and see how beautiful Africa truly is ~ Paypah

Etor/Otor as it’s called by the Akan’s and the Ga’s is made from mashed yam or plantain mixed together with palm oil and other ingredients. It is a very wholesome meal enjoyed by both young and old. It is served with hard-boiled eggs, groundnuts, and sometimes pear or avocado. It is mashed in a traditional bowl called ayewa or Asanka by the Asante’s and Ga’s respectively. Etor or Otor is from the Akan and Ga regions and is used in many traditional settings.

Shea butter is one of the most important local products in Northern Ghana and also few other African countries. The shea butter comes from the nuts of the shea trees that grow in savannah region from West Africa to East Africa. In Ghana, women make yellow and ivory coloured shea butter. The only difference is in colour. Although the yellow coloured shea butter is very bright which makes it unnatural on the first sight, it does not mean it is not natural. Contrary, to make yellow shea butter type, women add roots of the African borotutu tree that adds colour to the butter into deep yellow, as curcuma.
