Did you know that during the colonial era, a man named Asamani, together with his people went to the Osu castle to buy guns from the Dutch, when they got the guns they asked the Dutch to fill the guns with gun powder and bullets to test the guns, the Dutch's were adamant but Asamani insisted they wanted to test the merchandise before purchasing them.

After intense back and forth the Dutch agreed to do that, Asamani and his people each got a gun, filled it with gun powder and bullets, fired and tested the guns to feel the power then pointed the guns at the Dutch's to surrender and held them captives, the leader of the Dutch tried to escape through the windows of the castle but he fell to his death.

Asamani had control of the castle and traded with many merchants before he sold it back to Norway-Denmark.

He’s from Akwamu. You can find his statue in front of Adome Bridge when you’re traveling from Accra to Ho. In the statue you find a man holding keys to castle together with gunpowder and a gun.

The vessel has a length of 206.5 m (677.49 ft) and a capacity to accommodate 706 passengers and 447 crew members

Great Rising Kings and Queens coming to the Motherland Ghana ☀️

On Wednesday 5th June 2024, the Cruise vessel Serenade of the Seas berthed at the Takoradi Harbour. The tourist vessel is the biggest to visit Ghana and hence it was a remarkable event. The ship has a passenger capacity of 2,490 and 891 crew members. It berthed at approximately 7:00 am and departed at 3:30pm.

Over 200 tourists onboard visited the Elmina and Cape Coast Castles, Kakum, Bosomtwe Sam fishing Harbour, Cocoa farm among other tourist sites. This is the fifth tourist vessel to call at the Takoradi port this year and a few more are expected before the end of the year.

ORIGIN OF THE OLYMPICS:

Two thousand years before the first Olympic games were held in ancient Greece, sports had been created and played amongst Africans, including the ones dwelling in Egypt and Nubia.

In the tomb of Baqti III the wrestling scenes are painted across the east wall. The action of the wrestlers can be followed easily by the color scheme. The sequence of the wrestling begins with the placement of this bit of equipment that often belongs to the sport of wrestling. The next scenes picture the exploratory moves and the first attempts at a hold.

Swings and throws follow in the swift alternation with positions on the ground. The scenes which follow swiftly one after the other, are like a cinematographic reproduction of a sequence.

Of all the Egyptian sports disciplines, wrestling has the best visual documentation. The first depiction of wrestling occurs on the cities palette from the time of the kingdoms. A wrestling pair is obviously utilized as a hieroglyphic.

The six snapshots of a wrestling match from the tomb of Ptahhotep (Fifth Dynasty) are complete free of any emblematic character. Ptahhoteps son Achethotep who shares the tomb with his father, fights as youth against a friend his own age.

Do you know that Mali 🇲🇱 Had A University in the 1200 AD that taught Astronomy, Geography, medicine, Mathematics and so on....., Home of Mansa Musa, Richest Man in the History of Mankind!!!

Timbuktu in Mali 🇲🇱 is home to one of the World's oldest University, Sankore which had libraries filled with manuscript written in Ajama (African languages such as Hausa written in scripts in form of Arabic) in the 1200AD.

The University of Sankore is believed to be built by Mansa Musa the richest man in history. Subjects studied in the university included Geography, Astronomy, Medicine, Mathematics, Science and even history, despite the fact that history was never part of any teaching curriculum in the Islamic world at the time.

When Europeans, Moroccans and Asians began visiting and Colonizing Mali in the 1300s to 1800s the Malians began hiding their Manuscripts in the basement, attics and underground in fear of destruction or theft by foreigners.

In recent history many as 700,000 scripts have been rediscovered and are in modern and advanced mathematics.

Fort St. Jago, Elmina

Built about 300 meters from the Elmina Castle, the fort that was initially built to be a chapel was converted to a watch tower which served as a base of attack on the Elmina Castle by the Dutch.

It also served as a form of prison for European convicts in those days. It was built by the Portuguese in 1555.
