The multipurpose hall will host traditional, cultural and other functions in the Ashanti region.

The hall is built to depict the typical housing architecture of the Asantes known locally as “Fi hankra”.

Did you know that the highest mountain in Ghana is called ‘Afadjato’ and not ‘mountain Afadjato’ ?

The mountain's name is "Afadja," while the suffix "-to" in the Ewe language means mountain.

The correct name in English language, therefore, would be "Mount Afadja", not "Mount Afadjato" , which would be a repetition of the word "mountain".

Afadjato stands at 2,905 feet (885 metres) above sea level and is the highest mountain in Ghana.

It is located near Ghana’s border with Togo, close to the villages of Liati Wote and Gbledi Gbogame in the Afadjato South District and Hohoe Municipality, respectively.

Did you know that more than 5,000 people from all over the world gather in Dagbamatey in the Volta Region of Ghana 🇬🇭 every Easter ?

They gather at the Apetorku Shrine, where they go for spiritual and physical healing and also to receive protection from all kind of evil influences.

They engage in activities like daily pledges and vows, traditional drumming and dances and more.

Adherents worship Apetorku, a god belonging to the Vodu African traditional religion.
Vodu is an often misunderstood but profound religion that teaches self-discipline, unity and peace.

The shrine is also the impetus behind community development projects such as electrification and water, and in this way it serves an important social role.

The chief priest and a dozen assistant priests conduct the rituals and administer the shrine.

This scene was captured in March 2024 during Agbowuwu, a festival which commences on every Easter Saturday and lasts for 8-9 days.

Agbowuwu is a festival where adherents worshipers of Apetorku, a god belonging to the Vodu African traditional religion.

The Dagbamatey Apetorku shrine is also the impetus behind community development projects such as electrification and water, and in this way it serves an important social role.
