It’s Clean Monday in Greece on 18th March.
As we embark on Lent, this day is filled with love, forgiveness, and meaningful connections!
 
Greeks like to indulge in delicious vegetarian treats on this day, such as dolmades, which are vine leaves stuffed with a mixture of rice, onions, pine nuts, and herbs, then simmered in a lemony broth. Fresh vegetables such as eggplant, zucchini, peppers, and onions, often grilled and drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice, seasoned with herbs like oregano or thyme.
Sea food on the table, like fried kalamari, shrimps, octopus and the best delight, taramosalata, fish tie eggs as a dip on the bread lagana!
A great and loving tradition is to fly the kite, by the kids and the whole family, and symbolizes the beginning of the 40 days of lent!
