Less than 30 minutes after leaving Koufonissi we arrived in Amorgos - we’ve only been here for a few hours but I’m already spellbound
We’re staying on the outskirts of Chora and Nikos our host recommended Agia Anna Beach for a swim, 10 minutes drive on a road that hugs the east coast as it plunges down to the sea
The beach is tiny and rocky, you have to scramble down the last few meters, the swimming is idyllic, there’s a beautiful whitewashed chapel here too which gives the beach its name and if you swim out far enough you get your first glimpse of Moni Hozoviotissis the dazzling white 11thC monastery that clings to the cliff face

Easter Sunday - a morning chorus of gunshots (no idea why but it’s an Easter Sunday thing), blue skies, lunch with friends old and new - roast lamb on the beach, there was Greek dancing, there was very quaffable local rose which my husband may have quaffed a bit too much of, there was tsipouro which I managed to avoid - no need to add music as this is the real thing …
