Effie Anagnopoulou-Licensed tour guide

Effie Anagnopoulou-Licensed tour guide Custom-made tours for groups or individual visitors in and around Monemvasia I am an archaeologist and a licensed tour guide in Greece.
(8)

Besides my degree in history and archaeology, I hold a postgraduate degree in Cultural Heritage management. I started giving guided tours while working as an archaeologist in various locations around Greece. I believe that a place's culture is much more than just its antiquities and archaeological treasures. Therefore, nature, religion, customs, food, everyday life are a few of the things included

in my tours, which can be designed according to your needs and personal interests. My favourite place to work is the picturesque medieval town of Monemvasia in south-eastern Peloponnese, where I have also excavated for two years. I would love to meet you and have the chance to introduce you to all the hidden gems which are only known to the locals or plan with you the tour of your choice anywhere in Greece.

This Kessel photograph has the Monemvasia Society very intrigued.

Do you know anything about this photograph? When it was taken? How long the famous photographer Dmitri Kessel (20 August 1902 – 26 March 1995) was in Monemvasia?

Kessel was a photojournalist and staff photographer for Life magazine, known for his courageous coverage of war on the front line, including reports on the liberation of Europe and conflict in the Congo.

The Monemvasia Society would like to know more about this incredible photograph. Please let us know your opinions/theories/stories/evidence, if you have any, in the comments!

Our Story

I am an archaeologist and a licensed tourist guide in Greece. Besides my degree in history and archaeology, I hold a postgraduate degree in Cultural Heritage management and I am currently working on my PhD on traditional architecture. I started giving guided tours while working as an archaeologist in various locations around Greece. I believe that a place's culture is much more than just its antiquities and archaeological treasures. Therefore, nature, religion, customs, food, everyday life are a few of the things included in my tours, which can be designed according to your needs and personal interests. My favourite place to work is the picturesque medieval town of Monemvasia in south-eastern Peloponese, where I have also excavated for two years. I would love to meet you and have the chance to introduce you to all the hidden gems which are only known to the locals or plan with you the tour of your choice anywhere in Greece.
