Σάμος, Ικαρία, Φούρνοι: τρία νησιά πολύ κοντινά μεταξύ τους, που μπορούν να σε ταξιδέψουν στο χώρο και το χρόνο, στο μύθο και την ιστορία, στα θαύματα της φύσης και των ανθρώπων.

Από την αρχαιότητα μέχρι τις μέρες μας, τα τρία αυτά νησιά, έχουν καταγραφεί ως τόποι μοναδικής φυσικής ομορφιάς και υμνήθηκαν από ποιητές και περιηγητές μέσα στους αιώνες.

Σαν πνοή ανέμου μέσα στο χρόνο ταξιδεύουν τα λόγια των μεγάλων διδασκάλων, των σοφών, των ποιητών της Ιωνίας μέσα στα ερείπια των αρχαίων ναών, στα μισογκρεμισμένα τείχη, στην έρημη αρχαία αγορά. Φουσκώνουν τα πανιά των πειρατών, ανοίγουν τα φτερά του Ίκαρου και φτάνουν στ’ ακρογιάλια, στα χωριά και τις πόλεις των νησιών για να θυμίσουν ότι η ομορφιά είναι τόπος, είναι φύση, είναι θάλασσα, αλλά και βίωμα ψυχής, μεγαλείο ιδεών και ενοράσεων, που δένει τις μοίρες των θεών και των ανθρώπων.

The Tunnel of Efpalinos
The Tunnel of Efpalinos or Efpalinian Aqueduct is one of the greatest technical achievements of the 6th century BC and is considered by many to be the 8th wonder of the ancient world. Its extremely accurate construction reveals the great architectural knowledge that Greek engineers had at that time. The “amfistomon (double-ended) orygma”, as the ancient historian Herodotus calls it, was built during the tyranny of Polycrates to supply the ancient capital of Samos with water. The tunnel was built by the architect Efpalinos, around 550 BC and was used until the Late Roman period. Today is one of the most important monuments of the island.

Psili Ammos

On the southeast coast of the island, located 9 kilometers south of the capital, lies a small beach (about 200 meters long) with very fine sand, hence its name (psili ammos is for fine sand). It has very shallow clear waters and is very well protected from the wind. It is noteworthy that this point marks the closest distance between and , of only 1,200 meters. It is organized and has umbrellas and sunbeds. It is ideal for beach games (beach tennis, soccer) and suitable for children. Visitors can stay both near the and at the wider area, in big hotels and rooms for rent. They will also find bars, taverns and restaurants offering seafood dishes.

Welcome to the 2nd Tourism and Local products Exhibition of Samos, Ikaria and Fournoi! On 10-12 August 2018 at the coastal road of Samos town from 19.00- 24.00 in 40 kiosks the local producers will present their products and you will have the opportunity to taste or buy them. Every night special events will take place such as presentations by experts and food shows by chefs. Visiting Efpalinio Tunnel, Samos Greece

A friend sent us a #video and some photos from his #experience of visiting the #efpalinio tunnel. It is open every day from 8.30 to 14.40, except Monday. You can choose three different itineraries. The first one is the part that you could cross before the restoration, 180m. The second one is about 500m and the third one is 1036m.
