My name is Tanja. My passion was to travel the whole world to get to know other cultures. I was and still am interested in learning new languages.

In the past in order to be able to get in touch at least a little bit with the locals on my journeys and nowadays with our guests. I decided to turn my hobby into my profession and I have now been in tourism for 30 years. After working at airports, hotels and also as a tour guide my dream came true. Together with my husband Georgios we opened „Casa Belvedere“ in his home village Kournas. We trie

d to create a unique, warm place that reflects our attitude. We would like to feel our guests welcomed and well cared from the first moment of their arrival. It is our aim to show them the local culture, how daily life in a greek village is affected by the rhythm of the seasons and the traditional festivals, to explain the local dishes and also give them ideas where to discover small, but not less impressive sights. With one word to make them an easy start to dive into the greek „lifestyle“. In the hope to continue enlarging the number of friendships with our guests, we are motivated and ready for the future that is coming. Mein Name ist Tanja. Meine Leidenschaft war es schon immer, um die Welt zu reisen und andere Kulturen kennenzulernen. Neue Sprachen zu lernen ebenfalls. Früher um sich wenigstens ein bisschen mit den Einheimischen verstaendigen zu koennen und mittlerweile um meinen Gaesten etwas naeher zu kommen. Ich hatte das Glueck mein Hobby zu meinem Beruf zu machen und bin jetzt seit 30 Jahren im Tourismus taetig. Nach verschiedenen Arbeitsplaetzen an Flughäfen, Hotels und auch als Reiseleiter ging mein Traum in Erfüllung:
Zusammen mit meinem Mann Georgios eröffneten wir das "Casa Belvedere" in seinem Heimatdorf Kournas. Unser Anliegen war es einen einzigartigen, einladenden Ort zu schaffen, der zum ankommen und entspannen einlaedt. Alles ist nach unserem persoenlichen Geschmack gestaltet, in der Ueberzeugung nur so das Beste unseren Gaesten bieten zu koennen. Wir möchten, dass sich unsere Gäste vom ersten Moment ihrer Ankunft an willkommen und gut betreut fühlen. Unser Ziel ist es, ihnen die regionale Kultur zu zeigen: Das tägliche Leben in einem griechischen Dorf im Rhythmus der Jahreszeiten und den traditionellen Festen, ihnen die einheimische Kueche zu erklären und ihnen auch Tipps zu geben, wo man kleine, aber nicht weniger beeindruckende Sehenswürdigkeiten entdecken kann. Mit einem Wort, wir moechten Ihnen einen leichten Start in den griechischen "Lifestyle" machen. In der Hoffnung, weitere Freundschaften mit unseren Gästen zu schliessen, sind wir motiviert und bereit für die Zukunft.

🚗As promised, a new excursion tip that we discovered by chance: At Tavronitis, take the road towards Paleochora. Before the village of Boukolies, you will see a strikingly beautifully laid out church with a small park on the right. As you might have suspected, this was built for a sad reason: in memory of a young man and the many other traffic victims in Crete.
Various public institutions, including the UN, honored this place with various objects.
Continue on the Tavronitis River, which has dried up here, lined with huge palm trees to the village of Sirili. Through olive groves to Zounaki, there you can visit the Cretan brewery Charma in summer.

🚗For a long time I have wanted to introduce you to excursion ideas that are a bit off the beaten track. Most of our guests have been to Crete several times and so I am always trying to discover new places. Here a few impressions of a day trip passing Lake Agia's Konstantinos and Eleni church, further to the village Alikianos. There I finally found what I had been looking for for a long time: Metochi Isichaki, an old abandoned Venetian Manor(for more info and pictures message me). Continuing passing Agia Irini Gorge with a short stop at OldBenzinadiko Cafe/Taverna in Agriles to the small village Temenia, known as Crete's only healing spring.(try soft drinks from TemeniaCompany). Unfortunately, the water dried up there in the summer too. The tavern Temenia is warmly recommended for very friendly service and allyear-round chestnut specialties.

The Museum of Ancient Eleutherna near Rethymno, Crete celebrated its 8th anniversary with the inauguration of an exhibition on Pablo Picasso that included Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the former queen of Spain Sophia and her sister Irene, and daughter of Picasso, Paloma, among guests.
